I'm seventeen, and I'm kind of afraid to get my license?

Question

I don't get the chance to drive that often, but its gotten to the point where I NEED to get my license. My parents don't have the time to drive me around anymore, so my choices are either get my license, or give up on having a social life. My mom has finally told me that I am getting my license on payday, but now I realize how scared I am.

My problem is that I'm terrified of the test itself. I'm scared of failure, even though I am a failure usually.

What can I do?

I've had my permit for over a year and a half.

If you've had your permit for a year and a half, isn't it expired?

In California they expire after one year.

Don't be afraid of the test.  As long as you exude confidence and focus, you'll pass.

Driving is a breeze when you don't have to have someone in the car with you breathing down your neck.  Its way better.

Just relax. Think of it as just a drive around town. There is no need to be scared.

If it helps just think of how many young people those DMV proctors ride around with, there is no chance that you're the worst, you'll fall somewhere in the middle and that's all you need to do to pass.  

What I did was I had my mom drive me there. If I had a any kind of mistake on the drive there I would have been totally ruined during the test itself.

Don't worry. Take a deep breath before you take the test. I was so nervous my first time I failed it. But I took it again and passed!! just try to relax. Dont stress out about it

I am 17 a feel the same way. Don't worry about it! Just take it, if you fail taker it again till u pass. You'll be very very happy you took it!!!!!

its really not that bad, I got my license in January, it helps your parents out A LOT they don't have to drive you from place to place

i was just like you. i waited 6 months to get my permit and 3 months to get into a car. when really its really not that bad. if you learn with a private school you get so many hours in and if your lucky you get an instructor that is nice and does a great job. i was really scared of driving but now its actually pretty cool. i suck at it but I'm not all that afraid of it. once you start getting behind the wheel those fears start going away till after a while you feel pretty comfortable. there is no set time saying when you need to get your license. you can take all the time you need until you feel comfortable.

I'm 18 and just recentLy got my permit because I waited so I didn't have to take driver's training.

but just relax, and do your best.

however cliche that sounds,

it'll work better than anything else.

just think- the worst that can happen is failure, and you can  just take it again!

and driving is pretty rad! you should feel lucky;

you need to hve confidence in urself. take ur time and hve average on the road. There's no need to get scared. Just take ur time and relax and stay on ur side.

Study and stop w/ the fear.  The more experience you get the better you will be in the future so get started now so you have an excuse to be bad since you are young.  

Driving is easy and the test is fine ~ I usually don't pass test either
