Hey-

I'm 16 and shopping for my first car. I need ideas on what I should get, what I need to look for, websites, ect.

I really like the Honda Civic Hybrid... but it is REALLY expensive.

I need somethin that is safe, has good gas mileage, is cute, and is a nice ride. :)

PLEASE HELP ME!

xx Kenzie

  1. Cobalt SS

  2. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.noneto.com

Young drivers usually have much higher rates because they have much higher risk of accident and it depends from car.

I would prefer Honda or Toyota.

  3. yahooautos.com

  4. the saturn sky is a nice all around car and looks sporty

    or the pontiac solstice

  5. What is your budget?  Are you looking for a new car (Hybrids are very new so very few are used) or used?

My suggestion is NOT to spend too much as you are a new driver and you will experience few ding and fender benders.  If you did that on a new car (the very car of your life), you might be heart broken.  After few years, you can get another car - a true dream cars that you know you can drive safely.

CT (the post above) is correct about old Civic.  They are lighter than modern Civic so they get great mileage.  My 94 Civic get 41 MPG and it is rock solid.  If I had to sell it, I would not get more than few grands.

    Good Luck...

  6. Buy any of the other Honda models (not Hybrid). The Civic is a good car and will appeal to your age group as well.

  7. 1. Honda Fit (base) - $15,385

    2. Mazda 3i Sport (sedan) - $17,205

    3. Hyundai Elantra SE - $17,945

    used?

    for $4,000

    look for

98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

these are all reliable and will last longer than other cars in this price range.

  8. An older Honda Civic. The 92-95 VX Hatchback gets 48/55 mpg according to the EPA.
