So I decided to stop drinking about a week ago. Not because I am an alcoholic but because I am trying to lose weight. I am fine with being a total alcoholic but now that I am trying to lose weight I feel so empty with out it. Ever since i've stopped drinking i've been sleeping about 14-15 hours a day is this normal? When will these bad feelings go away? I know with quiting smoking it is like 20 days till you are completely over it but how long is it with alcohol?

  1. I thikn you are wrong in saying that you aren't an alcoholic. What you are describing makes me think you probably are. Also, I don't know where you heard the 20 days for getting over smoking, but that's not true. My grandmother quit for 10 years and she said she even wanted to light up every now and then lol.

  2. u should try exercising, push ups are a good way to go - or even one of those t.v. work out programs record a couple on dvr and keep working out to the same one until u can do it non stop then move on to another show. the exercising will get ur endorphins going and u wont be so tired, plus this will keep ur mind busy. i think alcohol(ism) is a constant battle you'll have to keep fighting. Good Luck

  3. 1st of all congrats on making the decision to quit. Not knowing how much you drank, I would say you are going thru withdrawls.  what you are experiencing is probably very normal.  You would do yourself a favor by contacting your local AA.  Even if you don't consider yourself to be an alcoholic they can help you get thru quiting.  It is a life long struggle, but it is well worth it.

  5. Please do yourself a favor and go to AA where they will have help and counseling available.  Your body is apparently missing the booze very, very much.
