Question:

I'm so confused when should I try to get pregnant after a miscarriage?

Okay I had a miscarriage on July 30th, at 8 weeks in my pregnancy(D&C procedure) After the miscarriage I thought "as soon as I get my period in September I'll try after" even though the doctor told me to wait 3 months.

Last week I decided to wait 2 months to make sure my period is the same cycle length.

But then I read peoples answers that they tried right away and got pregnant, or they waited for 3 months, now I don't now what to do. My plan was to get pregnant hopefully in October or November(last time I got pregnant on my 2nd month) so that in December my hubby and I could go to Mexico, and I would already be pregnant.

But honestly when doctors say "wait 3 months" is it emotionally? or because you can easily get another miscarriage?

Ladies tell me your stories of how long it took you to get pregnant after a miscarriage, and how was the whole experience?

  1. Hiya,

I'm really sorry to hear that you had a miscarriage, this can be a really difficult time for you and your family and I hope you are coping okay.

I think you should wait, as the doctor suggested for three months untill you try again. The reason this is suggested is because it can sometimes take a little while for you cycle to restun to normal after a miscarriage and so it is assumed, that after three months it will be back to normal.

Technically, it wouldn't cause much harm if someone was to go and get pregnant straight away after a miscarriage, but the reason you are advised not to is so when you do get pregnant, you will know the date of your last period and so you doctor will be able to calculate how many weeks pregnant you are and so be able to offer you the best treatment / care for that stage of pregnancy.

    All the best.

  2. with my 1st son i had him at 26 weeks sadly he died 18hours later, but i fell pregnant within 2 months and my 2nd son was healthy and is now 7, i think your doctor will tell you to wait fro your body to get back to normal after the mc, but i have heard lots of storys on here about woman falling pregnant straight away and having healthy babies, i will say after a mc you will worry a whole lot more, but it doesn't mean it will happen again also you are more fertile after a mc and giving birth, all the best for the future xx

  3. Got pregnant on year in November, miscarried in December.

Got pregnant that March and miscarried in May.

2 years later and I'm counting down the weeks til my baby girl gets here.

***that two year gap was because I stopped trying and started bc.***

  4. You need to do as your doctor says.

You will be risking another miscarriage if you do not wait.

Babies come at God's timing, not your MExico trip's timing.

  5. My best friend and also my sister both got pregnant right after their miscarriages. There other pregnancies went fine. It had to of been within the first 3 months for both of them. I think that they do tell you that because of emotionally you need to be ready.

  6. You first need to listen to what your doctor says. You should take as much or as little time as you need. No one knows your body better than you do. And you also should take your emotion's in affect to.

  7. Hi sorry to hear about your Miscarraige

Doctors say to wait so its easier for them to date your pregnancy is you get PG straight away.

I guess when you feel ready then try. I know of people that fell pregnant right after a miscarraige.

  8. Planning your pregnancy around a trip to Mexico sounds pretty shallow. If you really care about successfully carrying a healthy child to term LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR.
