Question:

I'm so scared about middle school?!?

I'm starting middle school on September 3rd and I'm terrified! I'm not worried about meeting new friends because everyone from my town from elementary school has to go to the same middle school district unless they're moving and I have a lot of friends. Sixth grade is scarier though because you're not the oldest anymore! Here is a list of what I'm worried about:

1. When do you have time to organize your locker?

2. How do you know where your classes are?

3. I heard homeroom is only like five minutes, so how do you have time to talk about starting middle school on the first day?

4. What do you do in detention?

5. I know all that drama for girls starts at this age, I'm think I might be in it!?

Please, can you give me more tips about middle school? I'm scared! Thanks!

  1. 1.You can do it before homeroom and after your last class; you'll be fine.

2.They give you a schedule at your first homeroom telling you the classes, the room numbers and the teachers.

3.Homeroom was like thirty minutes when I was there, so it shouldn't be much different now.

4.you just sit there as far as I know, just don't get in detention.

5.Just let the drama roll off your back, like water off a duck. When it comes down to it, the only part that will matter is your grades, and the friends you make, and from what you said, you already have a lot. Middle School isn't the end of the world, but it may feel like it. Remember, that's an illusion.

  2. 1. you will have time at the end of the day, and here and there

    2. someone will tell you & you might even get a map

    3. homeroom is different everywhere and your first day might be a little different since it's the first day

    4. i think nothing/work, but we didn't have that

    5. if you don't want drama, stay out of it

i was so terrified for middle school, i told everyone i didn't want to go, but i made my best friends for life there.  and that was... long ago enough that i am not going to tell you how long ago it was.  the beginning is scary, but you will laugh about how scared you were in 2 weeks.

  3. Hey, don't worry!

You'll have time to organize your locker in breaks, before lessons start and what not. You should get shown where your classes are, if not then check with your friends if they're in the same class and go hunting for it and don't forget you can always ask people where they are. They'll tell you what to do in detention, I don't think it's really that bad it just means you'll have a little free time to do what you want. The best thing to do is just try not to worry, enjoy yourself with your friends. Hope this helped =]

  4. 1. At lunch times/ between classes.

    2. You dont at first but you learn. Some schools give classroom maps.

    3. Usually on the first day you get an assembly to talk about arrangements at middleschool.

    4. Sit and do homework or classwork you didnt get finished.

    5. Try avoid drama. If not youre going to have a pretty stressfull time.

  5. just relax it will be fine and you will enjoy it trust me

-1. you can organize your locker in the morning or just put everything back where you found it after your classes

-2.if your school has a walk-in registration than go then and take a friend and find your classes together by the room numbers, do it multiple times so you get the hang of it.

-3.the might extend the time of homeroom on the first day so that your homeroom teacher can explain it all to you.

-4.i personally have never been in detention but i heard that you can work on homework and read at my school, but at some schools you just sit there

-5.I can promise you that at one point in your middle school life, you will have some drama, everybody does and that's just part of the experience.

-If you have lockers and your worried about not being able to get it open and then going to class, always do your combo to the second digit and then do the third after you class and then reset it, it's easy to open and it can save time. Also if you have three or more minutes in between classes you should have plenty of time, i went to my locker, went to the bathroom, talked to friends, and then went to class with a three minute bell and i wasn't tardy, have fun in middle school :)

  6. There are so, so many teachers who are helpful.

Aw, man, I remember sixth grade.

Let's answer your questions, and then I'll give you a little advice of my own.

    1. In between periods, and in the morning before classes start, you'll have locker time or friend time. I suggest you attack your locker first, and then find your buddies. Organize all of your things. When I was in 6th grade, I loved to put up posters. Do so, but don't clog it up! Just keep your things where you need them and keep organized and clean and you'll be okay. If you feel that this will be a problem, ask a teacher or two if you can leave some of your books in their room.

    2. Your schedule will have a list, but you'll be pretty confused as it is. You've got two best bets. Before you go to school this year, ask mom or dad to take you on a tour of the school. Schools are open during the summer, so you'll probably be able to look it over and do a mock "school day" of what your walk will be like. If not that- ask a teacher! In a new school, the teachers are relatively sympathetic for the first few months, especially to new kids, so if you're a few minutes late, chances are, it's all right.

    3. My homeroom was a half hour, and then we branched off. Chances are, you'll have an assembly or presentation on the first day. A new school will never leave their new kids on their lonesome! They'll give you a guide or maybe a student buddy to help you.

    4. Don't get it. =) There will be teachers who hand them out left and right, but if you stay out of trouble, stay organized, and stay alert, you won't get a one. If not, just bring your homework and keep to yourself.

    5. Girls are always in drama. You'll find out pretty quickly who's your friend and who is not. If you're in drama and you know it's fake, let it be and talk to your mom, dad, or a guidance counselor. Don't worry. Soon you'll find a group of friends who will like you for who you are, not what you wear or what you do for kicks, and things will be okay.

Don't worry. Middle school was hard for me, but I got through it. We all will. Get to know your teachers and don't mouth off. Show your best side and put your best foot forward, and if you need anything else, email. =)

    Good luck!

  7. I believe I can address these for, seeing as that I was in your position about 8 years ago.

    1) Before class, during lunch, and after school. ALso, they should give about 10 minutes or so in between classes.

    2) It ok to ask someone. Most people at the school will recognize you're a new face, so feel free to ask someone.

    3) I'm from Houston, so our homeroom was probally different than yours (it wasn't 5 minute, much longer, especially the first day.)

4)Do you work, or you can just sit down and read the signs for about 45 minute. But I'm sure you won't find yourself there too often...lol.

5)This will let you know who your true friends are. It is best to do away with drama. Relax, you will go through the same feeling again in high school and college(which I am starting my second year of college). It's natural for you to have this feeling when you unsure of a new surrounding. Although it is nothing like the elementary you left, you will have many life experiences (maybe some good and some bad), but it is all a part of growing up.

  8. starting 6th grade can be scary. we all were a little scared (we're quadruplets just so y'know why it says we not i).

    1. in our school we had 10 minutes before school started everyday. they call it school entrance here. you can organize your locker or whatever you want in those 10 minutes.

    2. usually you can go to the school website and print out a map of the school...and sometimes on your schedule it'll have the room number (which should be clearly posted on the wall as well)

    3. homeroom is different in every school, but on the first day you'll have a set up that teachers have to follow

    4. none of us have ever been in detention, but we're guessing that you either do nothing or work on homework. all we know is that detention in our school is 2 hours long.

    5. if you do find yourself in drama handle it responsibly. don't overreact to anything...it'll cause more drama.

we all had our pre-middle school jitters, but once you get there you'll be fine. don't be afraid to ask questions. good luck this year

  9. 1. Organize your locker in the morning and after school

    2. Don't worry you will learn your schedule very quickly

    3. You will talk about starting middle school in EVERY class the 1st day

    4. Work

    5. Ingore the stupid drama and avoid hanging out with certain types of girls

Good luck! Middle schools fun if you let it be!
