This is the deal...I'm REALLY trying to raise my credit scores because I'm trying to build a good financial background and try to get an apartment within the next year. My only problem is, right now my credit is probably bad because I'm not following the 30% rule of spending on my cards so that's why I'm trying to fix it now and fix my credit score. Are there ANY kind of good websites out there that will NOT {NOT!!!} scam me? I need answers with experience because I'm looking at other answers and I'm getting mixed feelings about going to a website and getting my score...I dont want to be scammed again because it happened before and it's a TRUE PAIN! So does anyone have any suggestions based on experience?? Plzzzz help!! Thank u! =)

  1. Have you considered using one of those authorized user tradeline programs. They are very affordable and would get you well on your way to having better credit. My mom used it and not only was able to open other accounts, but her score jumped 51 points. Check out the free evaluation form at www.totaldebtsolutionsllc.com They can help.

  2. http://www.annualcreditreport.com is the only website you should go to.  Any other website will scam you and/or try to get you to join one of their stupid plans that you have to renew monthly or yearly.

This site was set up by the big three credit reporting agencies in the United States (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian), to furnish free annual credit reports, as required by federal law.

It is important to note that there is a difference between a credit score and a credit report.  A credit report will show your payment history, balances, loans, defaults, etc.  A credit score will show your actual score.  Each of the three big credit agencies will have their own scoring methods, so each agency will report a different score.  This is normal.  Your credit report is free, every year.  In order to receive your actual credit score, you will need to pay a one-time fee of $5 to $7 to each credit agency.

  3. This is a good site for info on raising your score and it will cost you nothing....Accurate negative info stays on your credit files....there is, however, one trick that "may" help to remove negatives from your credit files. You don't have to pay anyone to do this...

Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to request written validation of negative entries on your credit files. Per this law they must validate the item(s) or remove them from your credit file.

Mail separate requests for each negative on your credit file....one at a time...not all at once. Just include the simple statement:

Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I am requesting written validation of this item.

Remember that there are three credit bureaus, so you’ll have to do this for each credit bureau. There is NO guarantee that this will work....It may give some decent results. The worst that can happen is that all negative items come back verified.
