Guys I have a problem. AT school a few years back I was a really a slow runner at school and people used to make fun of me. Now i'm older in eighth grade and my speed flourished. I can now do 100m in 7 seconds and other races except 400m in little than 20 seconds. (No drugs just talent) Iam now the second fastest runner in my grade which makes me feel good and everyone is like wow improvement and man youre fast and all the attention is on me i try not to let it get to my head but i cant help it. Now we are on school break it was from june 17 and school will open on 18 august. The problem is I now feel like Ive eaten too much and i will become slow again and i havent really been training well at home so Im really worried that even P.E teachers will be telling me youve gained weight and stuff but its the holiday what can i do. What should i do to get back to shape b4 school starts

  1. 7 seconds? You must have made a world record then! Was it really a 7? Did the stopwatch have a problem?

Now that you are back to school, you would be exercising more with your running. But since there was a holiday, you gained weight cuz you eat and don't exercise. Nothing to worryabout. Eat more fruits and veggies!

  2. You've definitely timed yourself wrongly.

The world record for 100m is 9.72 which was broken earlier this year by a runner called Bolt.

Previously the record was held by Asafa Powell, 9.77 and broken again by himself 9.74.

    Time yourself correctly lad.

But you should continue jogging and sprinting and lifting weights using your legs to increase muscle in your thighs and calfs

  3. you obviously like the talent that you have,so use self control to maintain it

just jog/sprint everyday for 15-20 minuits, and everytime you think "chocolate, mcdonalds"just have self controll

  4. You dont run 100m in 7 seconds and you definately dont run 400m in 20 seconds. I am a fast runner and according to those timings I am 3.5 seconds slower than you in the 100m and you can run the 400m faster than i an do the 200m (21.9)

On a more serious note, if you have put weight on you will be slower. However, that is normal. When you start training agan if you are a natural athlete you will lose the weight relatively quickly. Dont worry about losing speed as you have speed due to your genetic makeup. You naturally have a higher percentage of fast twitch fibres and you will not lose these!

  5. 1) Train more-This always helps, maybe about 3-4 times a week fairly brisk run about 30 minuts at a time.

    2) Interval training-I find this the BEST way to improve my fitness and stamina over long distances for example, find a field nice and flat with low grass. Then maybe run fast for 2 mins then medium pace for 4 mins then slow for 4 mins. Repeat this 3-6 times and you will notice and instant improvement in your running style and stamina!

    3) Eating well-This is very important and will test how much you really want to beat this girl. You must make sure you eat well but there is a difference between eating well and eating nothing. The key when trying to eat well is to eat more! This sounds crazy but if you give up say chips and then have nothing to replace them, your craving for them will become insane, where as if you find something to replace them you will hardly notice!

    4) When racing-The comment above telling you to go out in the lead I would have to disagree with. It is always best to stay 2nd but right on there tail; the reasons for this being, if its windy then let the person infront ake all the wind whilst you cruise from behind and on the last 200 just go for it inside every runner theres that last burst of energy! You just have to find it!!

5)Over training- It also true that if you are over training you will not be able to run as far. I'd suggest have at least 1 day a week where you do NO physical excercise. Then maybe once a month have a period of 3-4 days where you just have a break from everything!

6)Drinking- You must ensure you are drinking loads of water! It is suggested you drink in excess of 3 litres a day to keep your body hydrated! You will never be able to run dehydrated!

The world record for 100m is 9.72 which was broken earlier this year by a runner called Bolt. So if your getting 7 seconds! WOW :O

    Hope this helps!

    Good luck!

  6. who timed you????

  7. your lying about your times. A 7second 100 would be a new world record.
