I'm starting a 7's team this summer, and I want to know how can I get sponsorship?

Question

We need money to pay for jerseys, tournament fees and travel expenses, how can I go about getting sponsors so that we can pay for all of this. We'll be playing in the Southern California rugby sevens tournaments with ambitions to qualify and play competitive rugby.

In NZ we have lotto grants, sport grants.Ideally the best way to go is being sponsored by local businesses with their logos,& if you do well who knows what will follow.I know rugby is not strong in USA so a business or somebody with rugby connections would be the option.

I think the best you'll manage in the USA is local business. Ask around and hope some local businessmen/women are Rugby fans.

They'll then hopefully bankroll your team in return for their logo on all your kit etc'

You could always try wal-mart...my old highschool club team got like $1000 from them every year

Contact the NZ Rugby Union, they have zillions to throw away, they recently spent $130000 to find out  that they lost the world cup in 2007.......everybody else, already knew...
