  1. It depends.  You could be feeling a little overwhelmed.  If you are moving away from home to start school, you could be feeling like you could get lost (not actually lost but emotionally, spirtitually lost) in the new environment.

First off, almost all of the people in the freshman class and some in the upper levels too, feel lost sometimes.  It is completely new for all freshmen.

I go to a large university and some of the classes are very large, especially freshman level classes, but don't let this scare you.  You will meet lots of new people.  There will be lots of functions to go to to help you become more accustomed to the campus and other people there.  I suggest you go.  Find someone in your dorm that is going.  Find a couple of people, one or two that are a year older, because they can help introduce you to other people they know and help answer questions you have.  Find some people in class and exchange numbers/ emails to "share notes" but then send them and invite to one of the on campus activities.  This help you meet people and not feel so overwhelmed by the whole situation.

Just remember, everyone was a freshman at one point.

Plus, keep an eye out for people that might be in more than one of your classes.  This is another way to meet people. You can approach them about the other class and what you "missed".

  2. Everyone is nervous when first starting college. It's new and your entering into the unknown after all. I'm getting my Graduate degree and I first attended a community college and I was scared stiff when I first started. When I went on to the University for my BA I'd have thought it would be easier but it wasn't. After 2 BA's going onto graduate school still made me nervous. Hey it's normal and it's great. You'll gain new friends, and you'll grow as a person. One thing to remember, most of the others in your lower division classes are in the same boat. Have fun it's great!!
