  1. go around to all the major stores.like home depot walmart etc.see if you can bid lower on the job they might hire you on instead of who they have.at least you get your foot in the door.

  2. The state licensing board would likely have the info you are looking for. They may even have study materials for taking the licensing examination.

Public library would be a help too.

hehehe, come on in the water is fine. You can say that again, money is tight.I included a google search on this subject.

Well start up is/can be a real delema so just a couple of thoughts.

    1) fuel effient vehicle (truck)

    2) Check for Gerneral Libility insuance (compare prices) some contractors require a 1-2 mil policy or more. While there you may even check on workers comp insurance as well.

    3) Check on local suppliers on materials you would be using (rock, mulch, fabric, trees, plants) and so on.There are huge price differences between them.

    4) Learn blueprint reading, architechs do allot of drawings which you need to understand.

    5) Equipment?.Most landscape companies have skidsteers and dump trailers.I'm guessing you don't so find a good rental yard for a relationship and note there prices.

When I meet an owner the first time he usually has no idea of the out come, just imagining.I often use white inverted marking paint to create lines so he can better visualize.Remember water is in short supply and most communities have restirctions,so a basic knowledge of xeri scaping will help with your creations.

Beyond that there is no rule book, learn from your mistakes.Yes I do concrete, landscaping, house cleaning, snow removal.

Snow removal?.I almost forgot, you can't do landscaping in winter. Most landscape contractors do snow removal in the winter.I'm in Colorado and it has carried me through the winter months.

    That's it,I'm done.A good attitude helps.
