Hey does anyone have a poem that may make me a little braver about going to sixth form since i'm going to be on my own and a lot scared! It can be about new starts, change etc anything to help me be a bit more positive.

Thank-you in advance

  1. I'm sorry I don't have a poem, but I can try to help, anyway.  Just remember that everyone else who's also starting the 6th form is JUST as nervous and insecure as you are. Even the ones who act so confident, they are probably even more nervous, but have learned how to pretend very well.  They are just as worried about what people think about them and how to act, all the same stuff most of the rest of us worry about.

If I had known then, what I have learned since...I would have done it all different, and better.   Just relax and enjoy the experience.

  3. sorry i don't know any poems but i thought i'd say don't worry. I'm going to 6th form too and although i have friends going aswell we might not be together(as our 6th form has a boys school and a girls school joined, so we could be put in different schools) so i know how you feel. Just be yourself and i'm sure you'll make friends in no time b/c i'm sure there are people in the same boat as you. If you wanna talk feel free to email me, and GOOD LUCK! hope this has helpedxoxo

  4. Not a poem but you might be able to make it rhyme if you take some words out, put some others in, change them round a bit...

None of my friends went to my school and I started 6th form as a Billy-no-mates. It's not like ordinary school, you find that most of the teachers start treating you like a human being and all the bullies and thick kids have all buggered off to become beauty therapists and motor mechanics. Within a couple of weeks you'll have a whole bunch of new friends, it just happens.

I'm not saying it was the best time in my life but my 6th form years were certainly one of the most fun times. I failed a couple of courses because I was having too much fun. It was worth it though. It's only scary cos it's new.

  5. I was in sixth last year. Dont be scared at all. If you do good in school you will have a great year. Your Teachers will proboably be nice. Mine were evil except for 1. Also The year went by soo fast don't be nervice at all.

  6. going to a new place can be daunting but don't worry!

They'll be loads of new people around and although some may have come with their friends, they're all new to the place.

Find a common discussion topic...what school did you go?...do you live far away?...did it take you long to get here today?...did you take the bus?....whatever?

It helps break the ice and makes both parties more comfortable with each other. After a couple of short chats, you'll build your confidence.

  7. i'm going to year 7 and really scared,

how should i make my first impression,

should i tie back my hair,

    i'm arriving at school,

    theres my friend gehan!,

    SHE'S GOT REALLY TALL!

I hope this poem cheers you up,

i wish you the very best of luck,

(note- im really going to year 7and scared myself)

  8. wow, that is scary. i'm glad i don't have to do that. man, i think i would just stay home if i were you

  9. hey hunz im scared too about going to college this septenberr ... but i try keep trying my self that im going to love it and im a little excited about it too even tho im scared :D ...

  10. I have a great quote from the wonderful Nelson Mandela that I think is lovely. I'm not overtly religious but I like the sentiment in it and carry a copy of this in my diary.

It's main theme is about not doubting ourselves...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate,

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not out darkness, that most frightens us.

Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabululous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to manifest in the glory of God what is within us.

It is not in some of us, it is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsiously give others the permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Hope this offers some inspiration to you. Good luck in sixth form, I'm sure you'll love it! x
