I've just been starting it for a few days and my the tips of my fingers are all sore from pressing the strings. Is there any special equipment available for beginners to help overcome that problem? Or is any advice available?

  1. Just keep at it and stop for a while when it hurts too much.  While it varies from person to person, it usually takes 2 -3 weeks for this to stop.  By the way, not everyone's fingertips get hard; I've been playing for 45 years and my fingertips have only the thinnest calluses.

  2. That happens to everyon but in a few weeks the tips of your finders will get hard.

  3. As they have told you. You will developer callouses.

To help you we used to spray our fingertips with clear shellac. You can buy a spray can cheap.  Before the shellac dries dip your fingers in some powder.  Talc or baby powder will do.

  4. SRV put superglue on his fingertips, I've tried it also, he had something

  5. Every ones fingers get calluses after a while. When I started I lightly burnt my finger tips with a lighter which worked but hurt.

Just stick to it and it will become much easier.
