  1. What you need:

    Waterproof coat and pants

    Layers to keep warm

    Gloves

    Boots

    Board

    Bindings

    Beanie or Helmet

    Goggles

And thats it!  Thats all I check for everytime I go up.

If you buy stuff now, you can get real good gear for cheap.  Some good brands: Rome, Libtech, Gnu, Ride, Burton, Forum

You shouldn't go up in jeans.

You would be miserable in them.  They would get so wet and cold.  Besides, you just look stupid in them.

As for techy undergarments, I ride a lot and in some pretty nasty conditions, and I don't wear that stuff and I am fine.  Its all about layering.  But I also have really good outerware and gloves.  Some people swear by it, but I just have never thought it was worth the money.

You also don't need a stomp pad.  I've never used one and have never had a problem.

And leashes suck, and are completely pointless with traditional binding, avoid wearing one if at all possible.  Its just about principle :P

  2. snowboard bots, bindings, board, helmet, goggles, ski pants, ski jacket, a good hoodie (not one of those thin $20 ones, shoot for a burton brand one for 50$) snowboard gloves(know the difference between ski and board glloves), and chapstick. lol the cold makes ur lips get all chapped. you ont need a hat because a good snowboarding/skiing helmet will keep your head very warm.

  3. wikipedia.com or ehow

  4. First off, you obviously need a board, bindings, and boots.  If you are not too tight on money, I would recommend buying those and not renting them.  It is always nice having your own stuff and you typically do better because you get more customization.  When I first went, I rented and didn't get to pick out my bindings or my board or my stance.  Do some research online to find out what board and size is right for you.  Get a pair of good snowboarding boots that fit your foot perfectly.  If they don't fit perfectly, you get heel lift which is NOT GOOD.  As for your bindings, just get a pair that fit your boots.

I would HIGHLY recommend you do your shopping in a couple months.  Snowboard gear is way cheaper in the off-season.  You can also purchase "second" boards.  Second boards are Burton snowboards that have a miniscule blemish on the topsheet with the graphics.  For that tiny little misprint, you get a perfectly good board for half the normal price.

Here are the other items you will need:

    Water-proof Gloves(Very important)

    Helmet(Optional, good to have)

    Water-proof Jacket(Very important)

    Underjacket(Important)

    Snowboard socks(very important)

    Snow pants(very important)

Goggles(You may not always need them, but there are times when you really have to have them)

    Beanie/Cap(Important)

You can get all that stuff fairly cheap if you don't buy it from the companies or get namebrand stuff.  I got goggles, snow pants, and gloves for $13 at a thrift store lol, they worked perfectly.

    Good luck!

  5. if you have not bought a snowboard yet..you'll need a snowboard( ask in the store for your size, they;ll match you up), board wax, a board bag, boots, bindings, a light and heavy coat, goggles, and all other clothing pieces...you get the idea!

  6. The other lists cover the basics, but I would recommend snow pants and pads for your wrists, elbows and knees.  Rollerblade pads from walmart are $20 and are worth every penny.  Falling is inevitable, so be prepared.  Helmets are a good idea also.

If you plan to go once or twice only, rent a board.  Rental equipment, especially from a ski shop, is usually in great condition and can be sized to fit by someone who knows whats what.  If you plan on going more often, buy your stuff.  The cost of renting four times is equal to a beginners set-up(boots, bindings, and a board).  Tent/consignment sales are great places to find good deals on equipment.  They are usually at the beginning of the season, around October.  Craigs list is a great place to find used equipment.

Also, right now is a great time to buy any equipment due to all the end of season sales.  Buy all that gear and clothing can add up, so start getting some things now.

  7. I have been snowboarding for five years and its a blast!

    snowboard

    bindings

    stompad

    boots

    long underwear(top and bottom)

water proof pants(u wil be on the ground a lot!!!)

    hevy socks

    gloves

    jacket

    helmet

    have fun and be safe!!!!

  8. You wont need goggles at first, unless its really windy, because you wont be going fast enough. but i'll list them anyway.

    Goggles

    Pair of Bindings.

    Snowboard that fits.

    Long Johns(long underwear)

    2 warm long sleeve shirts

    Snowboard Jacket.

    Helmet(optional)

Snowboarding Boots, they make boots specificly for this.

Long Very warm pants, or jeans,  i just use jeans, doesn't bother me.

A couple of friends! Trust me, snowboarding is so much more fun when you do it with friends.
