Question:

I'm starting to give up on religion?

In general, religious people make sense only 5% of the time. I don't even know if they know what they are even talking about. Do they just make stuff up as they go along? I need help. Is there anybody out there making any sense?

Has anyone ever seen New Creation here in R&S. She is an answerer and one of the only persons here that has any common sense in her answers. I can't even email her to congratulate her or follow her around and learn her wisdom.

  2. It is good that you are starting to see religion for what it is... as all religion is man invented.... there is only One Way to God and that is The Way He prescribes

All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free, and eternal, gift of Salvation. Those become a part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven

If you have an questions concerning The True Christian Faith please feel free to email me. I do not claim to "know-it-all" but one honest question will receive one honest answer to the best of my ability.

  3. Ok heres the thing you don't have to be part of a religion just have a relationship with Jesus Christ the one who loves you and who created you and leave religion out of it.

  4. Your making a big mistake, but it's your choice. If you prayed, confessed your sins, and were a loving person then this wouldn't be happening; there would be times in your life when you would feel God is there with you. That is the mistake most former Christians made. They thought that if they would sin and stuff, but still say they believe in God then he would somehow magically reveal himself to them. It doesn't work that way. That is probably why your turning to Atheism and becoming stubborn people like them.

  5. You fancy New Creation.

  6. Don't give up on religion. It will be hard to find the most "correct" religion.

A lot of religion is confusing, because, back then (when the Bible was actually being put together...Bible means, a collection of small books), they didn't have any way to print copies except by hand.

If we carefully compared over a thousand ancient copies of the New Testament in Greek, we would not find one solitary copy completely agreeing with any other one single copy. At that time there was no printed page like ours today. Copies were made the hard way, in long hand, and it was real easy to make errors, omissions or additions unless extreme caution was used.

How did these thousand copies of the New Testament become so different from one another? Sometimes the copier would be even as you and I. Some people, when they study books write in the margins, notes to help them remember a specific point, or to make it easier to understand. I do it with my scriptures.

The same thing happened with the Greek copies of the New Testament. But remember, those people did not have the printed page for a basis; they had to copy the scriptures the hard way. We find some marginal notes by some of the copiers. When someone else copied from a copy that had been copied from a copy, they would not know whether a marginal note was something left out of the text and placed there in order that it would not be lost, or whether it was the private thinking or though of the translator or copier. So sometimes we find marginal notes creeping into the text when they should not have been there. We find other thoughts that were completely omitted, maybe simply as unintentional errors of omission.

That is why there are so many different versions of the Bible, and so many churches that teach different believes. It's like the telephone game, only with copying down the scriptures back then.

  7. Do ask questions, be inquisitive.  This is religions biggest nightmare.  Research history of religions and their books.  It will start to make more sense once you realize that it is a product of man and society

  8. I don't blame you. I'm glad I never got involved with religion in the first place. I like learning about it but that's all. Best not to get involved in it because it's only stories from ages ago.

  9. Watch out - the way you worded this, you've opened yourself up to a lot of "you don't need religion, you just need a personal relationship with Jesus" type answers...

EDIT:  Prime example, see "h'ayim tov Y'all" below...

EDIT AGAIN:  Cassie-Lynne too, almost word for word!  Amazing!

  10. am am am i one of the people who make sense?

  11. I'm a christian and we base are beliefs around God's Word (The Bible). We don't make stuff up as we go along, but there are some religions that do. You have to have faith to believe in God.

  12. Belief can alter observations; those with a particular belief will often see things as reinforcing their belief, even if they do not. Fleck-1975

Is something that was recently posted. In other words, you can fit your logic to make sense with your religion but in reality you're just justifying religion to yourself. I recommend you read "Losing faith in faith," a great book about going from religious to atheist.

Every religion has gross inconsistancies, every version of Christianity from Catholic to Mormon is, in truth, inconsistant and if you do some objective research you'll see that and agree with me.

Half of the Christians in America reject evolution and other scientific facts that contradict religion, but they have no shame in showing off their new high-tech cell phones! After all, why reject the science that benefits them? If they don't believe in evolution, they shouldn't get treatment for cancer or this year's immunization shots. After all, those are based on evolution.

Ask yourself this: If you religion requries you to reject scientific fact.. is it really worth believing in?

In fact, many intellectuals only cling to religion for the comforting aspect, but I would suggest that while it takes a while to acclimate to atheism, it doesn't mean giving up comfort. Immerse yourself in knowledge and objective reasoning, your life will improve and you will feel liberated.

  13. Catholic faith is true, it is the only faith that gives the fullness of truth.

your right about confusion in Christian life, but it because they are not taught truth.

Without eating the bread of life you have no life in you. that's the simple fact. How can a dead man teach truth?

  14. Remember that the goal is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and God.

Spirituality is the state of that relationship.

Religion is the path to get there.

The tricky part is when people don't take their spirituality into their own hands and make it their own responsibility, and instead just take the church's or their priest's word for it (shifting the responsibility to the Religion)

  15. you have become a stalker  I am glad  you do not want to follow me around  and I would not do that to any one.

  17. Maybe it's just to you that they don't make sense, which means you could be the problem. :)

It also depends on what you mean by "religious people". Making generalizations like this is normally something which doesn't make sense. (hint, hint)

  18. "Do they just make stuff up as they go along?"

    Proceeded by

"In general, religious people make sense only 5% of the time."

    Classic.

  19. Don't beat yourself up if bronze age superstition makes no sense to you, I don't know of any religion that is founded on scientifically verifiable fact, they're based on faith, which is belief without any evidence, so if it doesn't make sense to you, that's a good thing, go with that, asking questions and doubting is the way to get to the real answers.

There are all sorts of believers out there, some smart, some less so, some are bigoted, arrogant, and ignorant, others and kind and can make reasoned arguments, but they are all wrong.  As soon as your substitute blind faith for real facts, no matter what you do next you're not going to get to the right answer.

  20. Christianity makes sense 100% of the time. To say that religious people make sense only 5% is the time is just quite untrue. You accuse others of making stuff up and yet it appears that that is just what you are doing.

  21. Yeah, most religion is really just the thoughts of random people mixed in with a couple scriptures here and there.

Its really illogical, because most of their primary beliefs can be answered if the read the whole bible, not just a verse here and there to support their messed up ideas.

  22. There has to be a payoff in belonging to a religion.

An institution to marry you, baptize yr children, and finally bury u.

Most people cant stomach the idea that we are all alone in this world. I say concentrate on your close personal relationships and leave the formal religion alone.
