So I have that Mahatma yellow saffron rice(YUM) and I've had it at a friends house before but have never made rice on my own. Right now I have 5 kids that I'm babysitting and I need to be able to cook & eat it fast. Any tips and how much rice I'll need for just me?

  1. 2 cups water 1 cup rice and about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil or butter; the oil helps to help the rice from sticking together and a pinch of salt however you will want to bring the oil, salt and water to a rolling boil before adding your rice once the rice is added turn the heat down and give it a stir with a fork place a lid on the pot and let cook on low for about 15-20 minutes or until all of the water is absorbed fluffing occasionally with a fork as it cooks then you may serve with your meal ( if you would like to make a flavored rice ( such as chicken or beef you can substitute the pinch of salt for one bullion cube ) ( found in your spice aisle at your local store ) GOOD LUCK

  3. How much rice you'll need just for you? I would say about a cup of rice is enough per serving, so per person. If you think about it, the rice will swell once cooked. The rice you see in a cup could probably feed a person or two, just depending upon how big your appetite is.

I never cooked rice on the stove before. But I'm pretty sure if you put the rice into a rice cooker, I'd be able to answer that. One cup of rice equals one cup of water. Equal parts.

Good luck! You might also want to add soy sauce to the mix, it's DELICIOUS!

  4. boil 1 cup of water with 1 tbsp butter in a saucepan that has tight fitting lid.

while boiling, add 1/2 cup rice, decrease heat to med-low, and stir for 30 seconds.

Put lid on and simmer at a very low boil for 20 min.

    And thats it.

  5. twice as much water as rice.

    heat

3 cups water to slight boil

    add

    1.5 cups rice

    pinch of salt

lower heat, cook over low heat for 20-30 min, until rice is tender.

  6. Combine one cup rice and two cups of water in a saucepot and bring to a boil. Clap a lid on it and turn the heat down to Low. If you’re using a gas stove, that’s a little wispy flame. If you’re using an electric stove, that’s like 2 clicks from Off. Here’s the hardest part: resist the urge to lift the lid for 15 minutes. Taste a forkful; it should be tender and there should be a little bit of water remaining in the bottom of the pot. Replace the lid and continue cooking for another 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow the rice to sit on the burner until ready to serve.

  7. one cup of rice will be enough:

On a pan add some olive oil just a little bit and fry rice for like 7 minutes.

Meanwhile blend 2 red tomatoes and a piece of onion and garlic add some salt make sure the water covers the tomatoes.

onece the rice is a bit fry add the tomato souce to the rice and you can add some frozen carrots, peas and corn.

let it boil until the water dries up add some more salt or norsuiza.

    is so easy.....

  8. Here are the steps....i cook it all the time....

    - Put twice as much cups of water then rice

    - Put it on the stove and put it on medium heat for 5-10 min.Cook it for 20-25 min.

    - Then slow the heat after 5-10 min.

    - But remember to mix it every 5 min.

    - Then enjoy your meal....
