I'm staying at a hotel in Rosny sous Bois, near or in Paris. Good or bad area? What are the bad areas in Paris, France?

I am going there soon and I want to know how it is. The hotel is in Rosny sous Bois and the zip code is 93561. Also, what are the good/bad areas of Paris in general? Thanks for the info!

  1. This is a suburb some 6 miles from the center of Paris. Its about a 15 minute ride on the RER E into the city.

Its a reasonably safe area but rather inconvenient for a tourist. If you are going to Paris for a vacation it would make absolutely no sense whatever to stay there.

Paris proper (the 20 numbered arrondissments) is relatively free of serious crime and one of the safest major capital cities in the world. There is no area of Paris that I would regard as "bad" although some of the northeast arrondissements  are sometimes so described because they are more ethnically diverse.

  2. Rosny sous Bois would definitely qualify as "near" rather than "in" Paris.

It is on the outskirts of the outskirts of Paris and other

webpages say it is near EuroDisney.

I don't know that area, but it should be all right.

"Située à 5 km de la Porte de Bagnolet (2 mn en voiture), Rosny est très bien desservie par les autoroutes A1, A4 et A86, qui la situent à 15 mn de l’aéroport Charles de Gaulle et à 20 mn d’Orly."

"3 miles from Porte de Bagnolet (2 min by car) Rosny is very well served by the freeways A1, A4, and A86, which put it 15 minutes from Charles de Gaulle Airport and 20 minutes from Orly."

"De nombreuses lignes d’autobus RATP et le RER EOLE (qui met la ville à 15 mn de Paris Gare Saint-Lazare) rapprochent la ville de ses voisines du département et de la capitale."

"Numerous bus lines RATP and the RER EOLE (which reaches the city in 15 minutes to Gare St-Lazare) serve the city and its neighbors of the capital region."

(RATP is the Paris city bus company, RER is a suburban railway.)

[ I think all of those times are best case scenarios. ]

I would say that the "2 minutes by car to Porte de

Bagnolet" is rather optimistic, especially in morning

traffic, and that just gets you to the boundary of Paris

    proper.

(It takes 45-60 mins to get to CDG Airport, and Rosny

is about 1/3 of the way.)

  3. The reason why people choose suburbian hotels is that they escape high prices in central Paris -

Rosny has no bad reputation, as far as I know - and the transport combination seems rather strategical -

Go for it - you'll take not less time in RER than even in Paris when needing to take the metro - and a remote nice modern hotel, after a full walking-tour day is not worse than a kick in the hass . when evening is coming - just a point :  think about dinners -
