I'm still confused, how do peoples hearing get shorter and shorter as they get older????

I need to know this it's confusing me a lot. If you get smarter when your older, shouldnt your hearing get better??? That's what been holding me back so long.

  1. think of it this way... You buy something, say a car, that works perfectly when it's new... but as it gets older it starts to wear out, kinda like your body. So take good care of it, you wont stay young forever!


  2. As you get older you lose you your ability to hear high pitched sounds.

  3. hearing isn't a function of learning.

    Hearing works as the small hair (cilia, i think) are triggered by different frequencies. Over the lifetime, it is like they wear out, or are overused somehow. High voice frequencies are lost first, and men tend to loose hearing earlier than women.

  4. hearing abilities of old people depend on genetics.

    it is a myth that people get smarter as they get older; it does not necessarily happen.
