i'm going to take my SAT soon. and i'm very worried because i didn't do so well in the practice test. i am really bad at english, especially grammar. they give words that i've never even seen before, like winnow. wtf? what am i suppose to do? and the math part is hard as well, even though its one of my best subjects. not to mention the very limited time.

  2. there is a vocabulary book that can help you.

30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary

    available at amazon

    http://www.amazon.com/30-Days-More-Power...

other than that, learning about common Latin roots, prefixes and suffixes is very useful.

    HINTS

nadir is the opposite of pinnacle

a capella    means singing without instruments

Yep - things i missed that i still remember.

  3. well your **** out of luck... you cant do anything about it you'll probably fail and get into a terrible college. guess that shows how smart you really are huh? its going to look bad and your not going to have a good future and your not going to get far with your life. sucks to be you alot alot alot

  4. princtonreview.com has a practice SAT you can take, it help you practice

and if you search google SAT vocabulary it give you a lists of the most comon use words on that SAT and you can study them for you know what they mean. and as far as grammer get a grammer book read it... seriously if you take out time to learn and study all of it's not hard at all and you probably can pull out lists that will help with your math thats on it too..

also the SAT goes from easy to diffcult, so don't spend that much time over the beginning questions in a section and if you can elimate one answer at least then don't leave blank just guess, if you can elimate one choose circle and go back when you get to a end section

if you don't stress you'll say yourself alot more time

  5. there are hundreds and hundreds of books that help you prepare for the SAT. Go to a bookshop and ask an attendant for SAT Prep books. I recommend you get one with a CD practice test, because the practice test on the computer helps to determine what you need help with the most, and it helps you accordingly.

But in the end remember that SATs dont account for everything when it comes into getting into a college or university.:) good luck

  6. OMG!! You have the exact same problem as me! I hate that test. i like died on the practice and guessed on the english part.

  7. Read the dictionary, all the words are there.  Relax and so some of the practice test.

  8. yeah the sats are very hard but don't worry almost everybody does bad on them. don't worry as long as you get good grades u'll be okay

  9. go collegeboard.com and take their "question of the day" every day, you can take a sat class at your school,

or buy "the official SAT study guide: for the new SAT" which is a huge book filled with thousands of sat questions from every subject, this and the class will be the best help.

there are also vocab flash cards you can buy.

all this helped me alot, and gave me a good score on the sat's

good luck! to do well you actually have to study though, no easy way out

  10. dude, you need to RELAX ! too much stress is not good for a test, dont try an cram too much info into your brain if you do you wont remember anything, read your texts once then sleep on it and let it sink in..... when you sleep your brain runs over everything it learned that day you may find that things you just couldn't get the night before make sense in the morning.. but most of all be relaxed about the whole thing (relaxed as you can be; a little stress is natural) you'll do fine: Im a total dumbass but i passed maths, english, science, and, art with flying colors and all i did was read my texts the night before and just a little bit on the bus to school.... dont over study......and GOOD LUCK! :)

  11. u should've started studying for this like idk... maybe a year ago

it takes time to study for this test u know.... not just a few hours  or not even a month or too.......that doesnt help.

    good luck!!!!

hope u get a great score

and stop stressing ull be fine.

  12. just try to study as much as you can get alot of sleep and study right before you go to sleep it helps you for the test

you should make practice tests for yourself

also dont stress about it becuase stress causes you to forget things

    just relax

  13. Just think of it as a quiz or any other test.

It's not really that hard if you are prepared.

I always get a good night sleep and eat a small meal in the morning before school.

  14. Relax, all that test does is to determine your entire future. It's no big deal!    :D

  15. check this out

    might help

  16. no problem, don't sweat it. I took the old test (1600 max) and i recieved a 1320 (610 verbal, 710 math) in 2004

narrow your answer down and if you get it down to 2  take your gut guess; if not leave it blank.

your grades are much more important than your sat score anyways

  17. Well speaking from experience.. not that this will help you do better on the exam... but you can get a terrible score and get into great schools. I only got a 990 my first time, and a 1020 cumulatively... it was horrible but I was involved in sports and had good grades... if you can excel in other things, the SAT will be overlooked by a lot of schools! I promise, its WAY worse than you think it is. My crappy score got me into the Univ. of Florida, into Nursing school (very hard) and my score didnt hold me back... neither will yours.Years from now you'll look back and laugh. promise :)

  18. The time is not as limited as you think. If you are good in math you will probably do fairly well in that section. As far as english goes you need to learn prefixes and suffixes. This can help you to figure out what the word means from just looking at it. In high school a lot of my friends took an SAT prep course or a latin class in order to learn the english part of the test better. Do your best, see how it turns out and remember that you can take the test over if you don't do so well. Nothing to stress over! And make sure you eat a good breakfast the morning of the test.

  19. Just relax, and take your time. If you don't know an answer, it's better to guess than to leave it blank. Also keep in mind that SATs aren't the only things that colleges look at. I go to a 4-year university and my SAT score wasn't within 50 points of the "1100".

  20. In my opinion, SAT doesn't really measure whether you know english or math, it just measures how well can you prepare for an exam. Try Kaplan they have pretty decent courses and they guarantee that you get a better grade or they will refund your money.

The English SAT part for me was basically memorizing as many words as I can and guessing the rest. The math is basically strategy, there are so many books out there that will help you understand how the test works and the best way to approach the problems with the limited time.

Good luck and don't stress, you can always take the exam again and do better!

  21. Well, first off you should stop shooting spitballs at the other students and actually pay attention to what the teacher is saying. It really works!

  22. TAKE the ACT. Some people suck at the SATs but excel at the ACTs.

  23. Get one of the books for SAT practice and just go through it all the way. Then for the words, make cards, or lists, something to help you remember them. During testing time dont freak out, its really not that serious. Relax and do what you can do, no one can blame you for it.

Suggestions: Take the ACT....its soooo much better.

  24. Don't s***w up or else you will have to go to community college
