But you may be able to skip the odd unit.

  5. Hi Angie

I think that it would not be permissible for you to skip first year of your degree upon successful completion of your HNC, as it is equivalent to an entry-level access course onto a degree programme.

However, after completing your HNC, you can go onto the next level, which is HND. Normally, HND is equivalent to first year of a degree programme, so you may be able to have direct entry into second year.

I may be going to Caledonian in September, to study psychology and politics. I have recently completed my HND Social Science at Stow college. I have also applied to Strathclyde, where they have offered me direct entry to second year. Caledonian may pull me in for an interview and ask for me to bring a sample of my work along.

I will find out in the next few days which establishment will accept me when it comes up on the UCAS system.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

  6. You best bet would be to contact the university. they are all different. some might credit you for some classes and others might make you start from the beginning...good luck!
