I'm studying in Florence from Sept to May. Have any tips as to how to get a p/t job or good place to rent?

I want to find some kind of part time job (retail, hotel something that doesn't require fluent Italian) I also need some advice as to how to get a good room to rent. Any info would be great! Thanks!

i also live in florence, its been four years since i came and still studying. im just curious, which school will you be attending? my first year i went to a school called, SACI, is that the one your also taking? anyways, about apartments or rooms, the only way you can find a spot easily is by going to every internet cafe in florence out of the billions there are here. theres a bulletin board and many people post apartments or rooms available for a single or double room. usually they range from 250 and up single or double. but dont be surprised if you see some wierd scratched up add only written '300 Ponte Vecchio'. because one time i was also searching for a spot and i was picking up ad after ad calling and this one was one of them. it didnt seem very trustworthy or realistic since it didtn even say if it was for a male or female or single or double or whatever like all others do, but i called either way. at the end it ended up to be this h**l of a beautiful apartment in heart center of florence literally 30 second walk from Ponte Vecchio and it was ONLY for 300 euros. i had a single room but i shared the beautiful apartment with this g*y couple which i have no idea why they rented it for such a cheap price. so like i said, the only way is checking up on the bulletin boards and so one when you get there to florence.

about jobs, here its actually hard to get a job since they usually hire full time people, itsn ot like in the states where you can easily find a job doing anything. especially they want people who speak both of the languages. the only spot i can think of where you can possibly get a spot is at the Tourist Information office in florence. there are only two of  them and they need people who speak perfect english and other languages if possible. if you want a job like at a bar or restaruant, you can try, but its usually done like an  under the table thing, everyone does it like that.

You'd be a lot more sucessful if you spoke Italian.
