I'm suffering from intense depression, and in the same time I'm suffering from continuous tiredness, drowsiness, and sloth..

I want to know if the depression is the reason for these symptoms, or, on the contrary, I'm suffering from depression because i'm always tired and drowsy and lazy.

and what is the cure?

and are there specific foods that give energy and activity, and prevent sloth?

  1. I doubt your depression is caused by the symptoms you describe, but that the symptoms are just that.

I think there is most likely something that's bothering you deep within. It might not be something obvious.

To answer this multi-part question entirely would require more knowledge of your life and the things going on around you, possibly more than you would feel comfortable putting on the internet.

If you do think that by being drowsy and lazy and slothful you are making yourself depressed, try and find things that excite you. Go out and try something new that you've always wanted to do. Just wanting to be more active won't make it happen.

  2. First off....do not take any meds, as they do more harm then anything! It's a simple fact that these days, depression is very common....why?Allot of it has to do with all the processed food we have, also the constant bombardment of negative news, and surronded by negative people doesn't help matters at all!

The first thing I would do right off....would be to exercise!Start off slowly and build from here. This gets things moving and expells bad chemicals and also releases the happy hormones.

Food can play apart as well!Stay away from all processed foods.White bread, sugar, starchy foods, will bring you down.

Now sugar will give you a spike, but it is only temporarily experienced....which means you will come down hard.....intensifing the depression.

Good quality chocolate will help as well, it's been shown to enhance one's mood! Also it's a good food, so don't believe any of the hype about it causeing acne etc.Just have a little everyday.

Get outside more, take walks, absorb the sun!The sun rays, once they pass through the eyes, effect the production of the happy hormones in a big way. Also laughter is good!Go to youtube and find some good footage of comedy...like 3 stooges, monty python, etc....their all at youtube!I always start the day off, watching a few...good medicine, and it's free, and I'm happy for the day!

A few herbs that I take for low energy....kelp,ginkgo,rhodilia,valerian.... to name a few.Do a search on these that I have listed, or search for "herbs for depression" and amino acids for depression, and B vitamins for depression.

De-clutter your room, or home.....this helps bigtime!Rearranging your living space, stimulates the brain(a change is always refreshing)Also de-clutter your mind, by writing your thoughts on paper, taliking to friends, expressing yourself through art, or some other means, is a fantastic way to release mental fog!

And lastly, your not alone on this, millions of folk suffer some form of depression, and probably all of us suffer at some tome or another. It all has to do with living in this particular time, processed foods, polluted world, fast paced modern living.....so much the brain and body has to endure! So a simple lifestyle has much good to be said about it!You don't see any poor tibetan monks, frowning!Let us know how you get on!Best of luck!

  3. The one thing I discovered is that when I am constantly tired I get depressed--and the constant tiredness might actually be a vitamin deficiency.  What I did, I got me a good multivitamin and I started to go swimming and walking---I did have to drag myself in the beginning.  After a week or so I wasn't depressed or tired no more.  I swim 45 minutes 5 times a week and walk 45 minutes 7 times a week(I have a dog).  If you do not like swimming pick up on another exercise and do that faithfully.  Add a multivitamin to your daily regime.  If that doesn't help within a month, consult your doctor, because then something is definitely wrong......

  4. The listed symptoms support a diagnosis of depression.

There are no healthy foods to prevent laziness, as it occurs in your mind.

Controlling the mind is the key here, mediatation.

  5. Tiredness drowsiness and sloth could be a number of things like poor diet, stress and adrenaline stress (too much go go go can lead to burnout causing these symptoms which can also lead to depression) The depression can come from these or be an isolated event but they are all inter-related. You might consider getting your hormone levels checked to see if they are on target. (you can get a saliva test at the phamacy counter.) Seeing a naturapath or an herbalist to look at diet/herb options would be a start. There are wonderful medicinal plants that herbalist call 'adaptogens'. They help the body adapt to stress. Here's a great book about it...

To start dealing with the depression you might consider 5-HTP (effects start within a few hours) and SAM-E. both help with seratonin levels to improve mood. You can find them at any place that sells suppliments.

    Good luck

  6. You sound depressed. Yes it causes that and you need to talk to your Dr. for some meds possibly that work.

  7. They are defnitely attached and yeah it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation.  Eating a good diet can help with depression - 5 fruit and/or veg a day, good protien from meats and fish or pulses if you're vegetarian, carbs from bread/pasta/potatoes.  Stay away from junk food or sugar foods that have artifical colouring, preservatives - this is seriously bad for people who have depression/anxiety/adhd etc.  Basically, depression is often the lack of a chemical in your brain and what you're trying to do with food is give your body the chance to produce the chemicals it needs, either its energy for the brain or body.  Breakfast and proper meals through the day are also really important for this process.  Breakfast especially is a big thing they've found, so much so that some schools are providing it for very young children now themselves.  You have to see your body as a machine a little bit.  But also you may need medicine to help produce the right chemicals anyway, and a multi-vitamin/mineral too.  Good luck and don't get frustrated - it's a physical condition like any other.

  8. YES IT IS...GO TO THE DOCTOR!!! they can help you

  9. Your body is screaming for help. You need to overhaul your diet that is the only way to restart your engines. A pill won't solve the problems it can lead to worse ones. My suggestion is to detox using fresh fruit and raw vegetables only for 3 days then natural juice with no added sugar for a day then just water for a day then go back to raw veggies and fruits for 2 days. That will cleanse the body out. Get a major multivitamin and quit: booze, cigarettes, caffine and processed sugar for a while. Make sure that once you start eating full meals again (healthy ones!) you need to exercise. It is what releases endorphines and makes you happy.

You will probably find that you were only dragging your poor body down with bad food and chemicals and it couldn't keep up.

  10. i think you should practice yoga and should also do sun gazing, concentrate on rising sun daily ,on first day start with 10 seconds

    this will remove depression

  11. I think you need to sleep 8 -10 hours intense sleep.   Good walking/exercise can give you good sleep. Eat good food (chicken) and take multivitamins and sleep . Sleep first!!

  12. A while back I'v done recearch on depression. You are describing many of the symptoms. Google search it there are many tests you can take for free to give you an idea. You really should see a doctor though if you are feeling that way.
