  1. English!

  2. English

  3. English

if we transferred to spanish we would have to trash all of our existing english things and get spanish things. but if we were starting a completely new life i would problably say spanish

  4. English, please!

I'm a real native educated spanish speaker, and the spoken and written spanish in the US is rather aggressive, so I vote for ENGLISH!

  5. English! Like why would it be spanish, we are in america.

    Right?

But anyone can talk whatever they want. But the official language is English.

  6. English, cos what about all the other races and cultures in the USA that doesn't speak spanish.

  7. I personally think that we should have 2 official languages and everyone should be required to learn both.. but thats just me.

  8. There are hundreds of languages that US citizens speak and it is their right to speak whatever they want. In a professional environment, people should speak English because this is what most legal citizens speak. Also, the schools system requires you to learn English but other languages such as French and Spanish are electives and are not mandatory.

  9. Obviously it should be english because why should our official language change just because of illegal immigrants? I don't understand it.

  10. English

  11. if italian was on of the options it would so make the usa better

    ENGLISH

  12. ingles por favor

    Edit:

English de facto language of the USA.

Some legislators have been proposing that english legally become the official language of the United States. I cannot imagine with the current Congress there is any possibility of such a bill making it's way to the President's desk for signature. Our spineless electorate are much too concerned about satisfying their own personal and special interests to do what is right for the American people. Government at all levels must print forms in multiple languages, that's a bunch of bunk, Isn't it a requirement to learn english to become a citizen?

It is soon to become an OSHA regulation the construction superintendants speak spanish. The rule should be that subcontractors who employ non-english speakers provide a translator. Just another case of liberals gone wild.

I would be happy if they would just start enforcing current immigration laws and control our borders.

The best way to assimilate is to share a language, that's assuming someone actually desires becoming part of our country as opposed changing our borders...

I speak spanish (albeit broken) by choice and when I visit Mexico they really appreciate my effort and I also appreciate spanish speakers at least attempting english when they are here.

  13. Ok, for people who think English is the official language, reality check: We Don't Have An Official Language.

ANYWAY, my opinion is keep it how it is, or consider doing what the Canadians did with French and making English and Spanish equivalents.

**And English is not the original international language, est Français.

Either way we go though, I speak both, it makes no difference.

  14. It would be essential if Native English Speakers learn Spanish or Native Spanish speakers learn Spanish. In some countries like Ukraine you have to learn more than one language. There are some countries that are the same way too. So both Spanish and English should be the official language of the U.S.

  15. American (There is a difference) between American and Plain old english. Go America!

  16. english...... it would not make sense for it to be spansh..... majority speak english..... that would leave over 75 percent of the usa population to learn another language and be fluent in it. It just doesnt make sense. Also this is america not mexico

  17. well, English is already the official language, so why would you change it? Also, the country was founded by British settlers, so it makes sense. I guess that the Spanish were here first, but the Brit colonists took over.

  18. I say English should be the official language.  It's America!

  19. English definitely.

    But I speak both, lol

  20. english is more straight forward and easyer to use in a business enbviornment

but spanish is more romantic and pleasing

not the spanish from Mexico or Central america they swear to much and swearing in any language is ugly cause it realy makes you look stupid

  21. wow!!!

saying that about 80% of the us speaks english (as of 2003) then i would obviously say that the official language should be ENGLISH if they decided to do that

  22. Spanish. The white population will be the minority by 2040.

  23. english are you kiding me really spainish people are guest in are country it should be english

  24. I believe that English should be the official language. While it may seem a little prejudiced, my reasoning is that, if it weren't for our British, English-speaking forefathers, our country would not be here. Having English as our official language would honor the fathers of this country.

  25. English!!!!! Is our national athem sung in Spanish at games and meets or whatever? Noooo! Are our road signs mostly in Spanish? Noooo! Is English counted as a "language" class in school? No!!!!!!!! I'd much rather have Spanish as a 2nd language, and English be mine and my future childrens first language! :] It seems too hard to change our official language now!

  26. English. It is not just because I speak english and am selfish, but when people say the main language will be spanish soon the people who do speak spainsh (sorry this is steryo typing) are usually illegal and and not as well educated (not just in language but in a variety of things). So why should the original language change because of the lower class less educated people coming to the U.S., although I feel that a language the whole world learns to speak would be a fabulous idea.

EDIT- okay people stop saying "English, because it's America, DUH!" because that would work with like England and English or Spain and Spanish or France and French but not here....and don't say we speak american.

  27. Of course English..spanish is mexicans language where English is Universal.
