It's called Fundamentals of Art and it's divided into three groups, 2d, 3d and Photo Imaging, which is the one im in. Is that the same as Photography? Also, in a college photography class do you have to bring your own camera?

  1. You had better talk to the instructor.  In college we are all expected to bring our own tools.  So you need to know if you can use a $50-$200 used Nikon or Canon 35 mm cameras or if you need to spend the money and buy an entry level DSLR -- $470 and up.  Usually in the class discription there is a note that tells the prospective student what they need in the way of previous classes or experience and the tools necessary to complete the class.

The term photo imaging has been around for a long time, but usually referred to images shot from reconnaissance aircraft.

Now with images coming from digital files, I can see where an academic might refer to all image making as photo imaging.

  2. Though I DESPISE the term, Image and Imaging is largely now used in the same reference as the word photo and photography. So I would think that yes, Photo Imaging means the same as photography.

Yes, any college course I have ever had any knowledge of will require you to have your own camera, usually a full manual SLR, and in most cases FILM, not digital.
