I'm taking escitalopram 5mg / day at night for anxiety for the last 5 days.Sometimes I feel numb in my hands?

Moreover I have muscle pain all over my head at times. Is this normal?

  1. Yes, it is very normal. It's one of the many possible side effects you could get from the medication. With anxiety and depression meds, especially, there is risk of mild-moderate side effects. And what you and your doctor have to decide is if these side effects are worth you taking the medication in order for you to get better. For example, taking some medications cures one problem, but causes another... whereas other medications leave you with a simple headache or something. And being that a headache is obviously worth having as opposed to serious health problems, that's when you decide to take the medication. Your side effects don't sound too bad, so I say stick with it. Like I said, yes, it is very normal.
