Question:

I'm taking it easy at school ?

Hey. Last semester at school I got straight A's in every subject. But I'm only in year 10. Marks don't count towards anything until next year and year 12.

So I've decided to not really try hard for the rest of this year at school so I don't stress myself out and don't just give up next year when the marks count. I know I sound slack but It's working already because I'm not stressing about work and all that.

My question is, how am I going to explain to my teachers the sudden drop in grades? What do I tell them? I don't really want to say I'm taking it easy. Should I just say "I dunno"?

What do I do?

Thanks in advance :)

  1. Firstly:

Marks do count in year ten, they count from the halfway point of the year through to the end of your high school.

    Secondly:

Even if marks don't count in year ten at your school, you need to try your best and give it your all otherwise you will just sink into the habit of taking it easy, and next year and year 12, you won't be able to stop yourself taking it easy and your grades will get really bad when they matter the most!

    Thirdly:

If you stop getting straight As, you won't have a sense of accomplishment that you get from that. I feel good after just one A! So surely you would wanna get more and keep getting more.

    Finally:

Good job on getting As in every subject!

  2. Well I don't think you should take it easy or relax because this could maybe benefit you in the future.

So i think you should just do your hardest throughout the year.

  3. I think you should just keep it up. I mean, it's not like colleges automatically skip over your 10th grade year... a sudden drop in grades not only makes your teachers wary, but colleges... they're more likely to choose the person who got consistently high grades, or the person who improved. Just keep it up, don't take it easy, although, there are ways to get straight A's and not stress..

  4. I did the same exact thing in school.. and my laziness stuck with me throughout to the next year. you should keep up with your school work you'll be thankful later. BUT if you're like me and don't listen to people telling you to not slack off... tell them you have anxiety and depression and your working through it but its very hard to keep up with school work and you're well being at the same time... tell them that health is more important than academics and you'll try to keep up as much as possible :)

If that doesnt work say you're forced to work many hours at an after school job in order to support yourself so you've had less time to study but you're going to try to improve as much as possible under the circumstances.
