Question:

I'm taking my Guinea Pig to the vet tomorrow morning...?

The drive is about a half an hour or so and I have some questions.

-What can I do to keep my guinea pig calm during the ride and visit?

-Is a small pet carrier okay to put her in?

-What stuff should I bring with me?

-Will they trim her nails for free?

-What kind of questions does the vet ask about guinea pigs?

-Do I need my adoption papers with me?

Please answer! I'm really nervous!

  1. No need to be nervous!

***What can I do to keep my guinea pig calm during the ride and visit?

Limit the amount of jostling. If there is a way to put the carrier in a place that doesn't get jarred as much or where you can hold it still, the better. If it is hot where you are, be sure the car has air conditioning. Never put the cage directly in front of the a/c vent or in direct sunlight from the window.

***Is a small pet carrier okay to put her in?

Yes, a small carrier is fine for such a short ride.

***What stuff should I bring with me?

Put a towel on the floor of the carrier. If you can attach her water bottle, great. If not, bring a tupperware bowl of wet veggies so she can munch on them during the ride. This will help keep her hydrated. Also provide some hay for her to munch on.

***Will they trim her nails for free?

You'll have to ask. Some vet techs will do it for free, some won't. It depends on the office policy.

***What kind of questions does the vet ask about guinea pigs?

The vet or tech will ask about appetite, energy level, symptoms, how the piggie acts now versus before you noticed the problem, and anything you've done to treat the problem.

***Do I need my adoption papers with me?

No, this is not necessary unless they provide an *accurate* date of birth.

    You'll do fine! Good luck!

  2. a beer box always works!! lol! just any small box, little litter, a few munchies, and i REALLY doubt they will ask about the adoption papers.  and i bet they will trim the nails!

    good luck :)

  3. -just pet it gently

    -yeah a carrier is ok

-bring a treat or a toy and money

    -they uasally charge $10

    -they ask about the pig;how old?does it eat?female or male?whats wrong with it?etc;

-no you dont need adoption papers

Good luck and dont be nervous there just going to ask simple questions.

  4. just a ventilated box or container would do with some hay in. When i took mine i didn't need any documents or papers. Not sure about the nail trimming because i never asked, and he will just ask basic questions to try and get some understanding of why you have brought your guinea pig to the vet
