My rat has a tumour and I'm going to take her to the vet today. It's only a 3 min drive so that's not a problem. She lives with another rat and I'm going to take her along just so she can keep my other rat company. Whenever I take them to mt friends house, I put them in this fabric "purse" with a towel in it and they just sit there but I would wrather take them in an enclosed area when going to the vet. I have a cat carrier for my cat but it has soft mesh sides and I'm afraid they'll chew holes in it. What should I do? Sould i put a towel in the car carrier and maybe there hammock they can go in or something? I need ideas!!

  1. http://www.dapper.com.au/articles.htm you could try making that or just get a tub and poke alot of holes in or if u have a carrier obviously use that i hope your raTS OK =[ AND JUST OUT OF CURIOUSITY HOW MUCH IS IT COSTING U CUZ GETTING RATS ON FRI?

  2. Call Frank, Dean, Jerry, Joey and Sammy.

Then you will have a Rat Pack.

  3. Go to Wal-Mart, Target, Meijer, someplace like that. They typically have hard plastic cat carriers for less than $15. I've only had one rat able to chew through one of those, but she was pretty determined, so if your girls are chewers then you might consider just buying a small, metal rodent cage to use as a temporary travel cage.

  4. If it's such a short drive, I would just use the cat carrier.  Put something delicious in there for them that will distract them from chewing the carrier.  Save some of the snack for the ride home.

I hope your rat gets better!

  5. Poor thing! You must REALLY love that rat if you are spend about $280 on it.You should go to your local pet store and buy a critter carrier. They range from $5 to $10.Just make sure you put a towel on the bottom of it just in case it has an "accident".

    Good luck on the surgury!

  6. If you have a little carrier for a cat you should just use that. Whenever I transport my doves around I stick them in a carrier. They're universal "animal holding" equipment. If you can't find a carrier around the house I'd use a shoe box. If your rat isn't feisty and doesn't try tearing his way to freedom, it should survive 2, 3 minute drives. I'm an assistant vet and the girl I work with brought in a guinea pig in a shoe box to be looked at once. She just put a few breathing holes with a pencil the kept the lid tightly closed. He stayed in the box with no worries for the whole work day

  7. buy a proper rat carrier, its better and saves all this
