  1. Change is hard, honey.  Moving is hard enough when you are older, so it must be very difficult for you.  It is normal for you to feel sad.

I think you should tell your mom you are very sad and you cry all the time.  Ask her if she can take you to a counselor who is experienced in working with kids.

I know right now going to school to you seems like the last thing you want to do.  But, if you think of it as an adventure where you can meet new friends, maybe join a new club, maybe that might make it easier.  If you are away from the house during the day and focusing on school life, that might help pick up your spirits.

I hope this is helpful for you. I'm including a link to show your Mom.   Best of luck to you.

  2. Sweetie, can you talk to someone you trust like a close relative (favorite Aunt, Uncle, Grandma or Grandpa) or maybe even call your Dad?

Being 10 is hard ( I have a 10yr old) and moving to a strange place doesn't help matters any.

There are other options to homeschooling and cyber is just one. Every person learns differently and sometimes it takes awhile to figure out just where you stand. It sounds as if your mom is under some stress and questioning her ability to provide you a good education (it can happen if she doesn't have the support of anyone), sit and talk with her and BOTH of you look at the different homeschool options that are out there  (( check the homeschool laws for your state at www.hslda.org first).

If you go to church, maybe you can talk to your Pastor or Youth Minister??? (just an idea)

    I wish you the best

  3. Talk to your parents about it. Alot of kids go through this, it's okay. Is there a councelor at your school? Talk to one, they are usually very helpful. I remember moving when I was 13 and it was very hard, but I talked to alot of people about how I felt and how I missed my old school. Talk to some of the kids at yoru school, you'd be surprised at how many people are willing to listen and help make your new home a great and happy place to be.

  4. Just go to school. Everyone doesn't like school at some point, but there are a lot of good things about school too, like the opportunity to make new friends, do fun after school programs, and learn a lot of great things.

It sounds like you are having trouble adjusting to the new school. Ask your parents to let you do some activities outside of school with you classmates so you can get to know them better. Try to make a couple friends. Maybe your mom can talk to your teacher and she or he can make things easier for you. Good luck!

  5. just get school over with any way you can. because without school you will be stuck at home. at least if u have qualifications you can go somewhere ASAP. surly school is a little gettaway from all the bother at home. and if you dont care about you future just get put into a juvinile detention center. they teach you a little there.

  6. First of all, if you're *really* 10, you are not supposed to be on Y!Answers.  Secondly, do NOT give out your city OR your school online.  You are just making yourself bait for a predator.

Is it the Elkhart cyber school you've attended?  If so, it is pretty lame.

If your mom still wants to do a cyber school, look into using the Lawrence Virtual School.  It's the best one in Kansas:

What do you mean your mom "failed"???  She failed school?  She failed at using the school for you???

I don't understand your statement about "I don't want to go to school."  If you're in a cyber school, you DON'T "go to school".  Do you mean your mom is going to put you into a brick & mortar school???

Lastly, it takes a LOT of time to get over a move.  I moved in April of my 5th grade year - just to a suburb of my city and it took me a good year to get over it.  As an adult, I moved two years ago and it took over a year to get used to my new city.

Your mom needs to find some HS'ing activities in Elkhart.  I know it's a *very* small town, especially compared to Hays, but there must be other Elkhart school students near you.  Would she drive you into Dodge City or Garden City for some activities???

  7. If Cyber school is not working, your mom can homeschool using a different methods.  Some families do not thrive under the cyber school method and need something a bit different.

Here are some different homeschool methods that your mother can look into:

There are curriculum providers listed on those pages as well.

You may also want to have your mom look over this information on homeschooling statistics:

As far as the negative home environment, have you talked to your mom about how the arguing is effecting you.  Perhaps you should seek counseling individually or as a family with a Pastor or family counselor.

I believe your family should work on creating a positive environment first, then think about how and whether or not to homeschool.

I hope things improve for you!

  8. Emm... you know... if you wanna be away from home and your step father then I think school is the best choice because there  you can find many friends, have fun and forget your problems.

  9. Our advice won't change what your father, mother and step-father have the right to do.  You're 10.

Stay positive and make the best of it.  You'll make new friends soon.  It takes time.  But again you're under your parents roof for at least 8 more years.  That's reality.

  10. Advice 1: to young to be on Yahoo Answers

Advice 2: NEVER state how old you are and where you live

Advice 3: Things will get better

  11. no one every wants to go to school sweetie im sorry, NO ONE!!!  you just have to deal, you will never want to go to school, your not the only one

  12. im 11. you HAVE to school! i wich not,but unfortunatly adults are stupid.your mother should try some home schooling programs! and let you adapt to this new place you moved to!

  13. being at school has got to be better than staying at home and dealing with your parents.  if you really hate your homelife so much, get involved in some kind of activity like sports or piano lessons, or whatever it is you're interested in.  that way you can stay busy, not think so much about how miserable you are, and spend less time at home.

  14. K i feel very sorry for you.

I think the best thing is to move with your father or at least visit him..

  15. Well, you're quite right in that it's not a good idea to do cyber... Honestly, mate, it's not worth worrying about. Sometimes you just have to grin and bear it. As annoying as that is to hear, it's what everyone will tell you. The human mind is wonderful at adapting to things; you might think you can't live without meat, the internet, or even sugar, but after a while of exposure, you just grow to accept it.

  16. If you dont want to go to school then talk to your mom about other Homeschooling lessons.  If you dont like having to move well its to bad.  My dad used to be in the army and we had to move almost every other year.  Try to find a book you like.

  17. u go to school to learn ok, if you work harder you go to college then maybe a successful career and be happy then u can enjoy life, look kid if u're ganna play around and not try harder in school, when your grown up u have to do hard work, kid years are shorter then adult years

in that adult years u can be happy.

  18. Trust me, school is alot more fun then work, it mite be hard now but it will get easyer in a few months. I wish my days were 9 till 3. not 5 till 7

  19. Too bad, Oliver Twist!

  20. school is so beneficial.

sometimes life can be hard and you may fall, stumble - life will make you cry, upset you but you are the only one who can resolve your own problems

you are the only one who can help yourself. as long as you are able to put your heart out to protect everything that is important to you, even if you failed miserably, you can be proud that you did your best.

just because you're struggling in school and that your family life is difficult to handle you still will have to put up with it. instead of trying to avoid the problem, why not tackle it head on?

dont be afraid of what life has to throw at you. what is life but trial and errors.

i understand that its hard for you especially since youre so young. you have a full life ahead of you... if you give up now you'll only end up a failure in life.

I'm not saying this to hurt you or make you cry, I'm just trying to let you realize that no matter how much you may dislike your parents or how much you hate school, you live most of your life in school. right now school may seem like a pain, but in the long run, you'll understand that what you learn in school and those you meet shape who you are and may teach you things that will help you stay strong in life.

i believe that you're strong enough to resolve this problem on your own. i believe in you; now its your turn to believe in yourself.

  21. If you don't like being around your mom and step dad its a better idea to go to school than staying around the house all day on the computer.I actually find school fun.Try to look at the positives maybe you'll grow to like it too...
