I've been thinking I'd like to be an entertainer for some time now but, I'm just not interested in becoming a part-time politician.

I know that being an activist has a lot to do with entertainment but, I just want to be an entertainer. I want people to like me.

I just don't think I could bear to sit through intelligence briefings or find it within myself to meet with foreign leaders to discuss matters of war or the preservation of humanity.

Do you think I could still make it as an entertainer?

:D

  1. You're kidding, right?

Yes, there are entertainment people who get into politics (and they may be able to do that more easily than some people because of the name recognition), but little of the other way around.

Being an entertainer has little to do with politics, unless you're a stand up comic and make political commentary part of your act.   And it can be problematic - Dennis Miller pretty much saw his career go down when he turned to the right and started supporting George Bush - he wasn't all that funny anymore.

Now of course you can publicly support social or political causes selectively, just like any public citizen, but that doesn't make you a politician per se.

So rest assured - you don't have to be in politics if you want to be an entertainer.  Because politics isn't always entertaining.

  2. I think most people (yes it's a generalization) are sick and tired of celebrities giving there opinion according to them.  When someone lives in the real world and not in a glass bubble maybe, just maybe, I will take them seriously.

So I say more power to you and thank goodness you would just...wait...hold it... entertain us.  TA DA!!

  3. wha!??! you're looking way too far down the line.  you should FIRST consider whether you want to be an entertainer.  You can cross the political bridge when you come to it.  Too many people try and put the cart before the horse, and end up going nowhere.  If you want to be an entertainer, then do it.  Nobody is forcing you to join any affiliation for political preferences.  Just don't offer your opinions when you get asked about politics.  No opinion given, no affiliation decided.

  4. Most entertainers don't care either. They just support one cause that is special to the for their Reps. There area few exceptions like Don Cheadle, Angelina Jolie, and George Clooney but only a few.

  5. No you have to support a socialist agenda to make it.
