First, do you ever feel like you're not a 'real doctor' or you're inferior to 'people doctors'? What are some of the pros and cons? Any other advice or stories of personal experience you can give me would be awesome. Thanks!!

  1. First of all, let me tell you if you just want to be a vet because you just like animals, then it's not for you.

    pros

    - get to work with animals...

    cons

    - you have to go to college, then vet school(about 8-10 years in total)

    - you WILL have to see animals being put to sleep, so if you can't handle that, then don't become a vet.

    - if you work for somebody else, then you will have to see a lot of emergencies, even when you don't feel like coming to work

    - if you open your own business, it's very hard to get started. It took my parents about 2 years before they started making a good amount of money, and until then, my mom worked days at another vet clinic, and my dad worked nights at another vet clinic, also they were trying to start a family.

    - the suicide rate of veterinarians is climbing because of so many people who get into it, and then just can't handle it.

My parents always beg me not to become a vet, because of how hard it is.
