I'm thinking about buying an electric outboard. How do you charge the battery that is used to power one?

  1. It really depends on the type of electric outboard you are buying. If you're buying a Torqeedo unit, it comes with its own charger (AC). You didn't say how you were planning to use the outboard, but if it's for the tender of a bigger boat, you'd need an inverter on the bigger boat to recharge the battery for your outboard. If you're talking about a trolling motor, then the charger will depend on what kind of battery you buy for it - gels charge at different rates than agm or wet cell, so make sure your battery charger has different programs for different battery types.


  2. You hook it up to a battery charger in your garage. You should get a charger designed for marine batteries.

  3. As said us a deep cycle charger. Be sure to run the battery all the way down or it gets 'set" . use a 12volt bulb ,like in a camper, to run it down

  4. Buy a 10 AMP charger and charge it.
