I'm thinking about getting highlights in my hair... How do I tell my dad?

I really want to know how to say it... I've wanted highlights for weeks but was to afraid to tell him (I don't want to ask my mom because I ALREADY know she will say no without even thinking about it and they are divorced) but I want him to know in a way that he knows its just because I want them and not because of peer pressure or c**p like that (He is very concerned about that stuff) THANKS!
