I'm thinking about going to Egypt?

Can anyone tell me what Egypt is like, is it safe to go on holidays to, what resorts are near the beaches etc

Egypt is safe for everybody.

Cairo is a must to be able to see the Pyramids , the Step Pyramid , the Egyptian Museum, Khan el Khalili  with its bazaars , the Hanging Church in Old Cairo ( Mary and Jesus hid there ).

you can also go on a Nile Cruise with dinner and a show .

then you can choose to go to Aswan and Luxor to see 60% of the monuments of the world .

or

go to the Red Sea .

you can choose Sharm or Hurghada  to have a relaxing vacation by the sea , swimming , scuba diving , snorkling , etc .

St Catherine Monastery is not far from  sea resorts .

it is worth visiting .

When I went there weren't the dangers that there are now, but I don't think it can be an overly dangerous place. Holiday companies wouldn't be taking people there for insurance reasons if that was the case.

Egypt is absolutely breath-taking. However, obvious but true, it is bloody hot. Drink plenty to avoid dizziness. And all the begging children near the pyramids & other tourist sites can be quite distressing. And I know this may sound harsh, but you are just better not giving at all because there are too many of them & they will fight eachother for it.

Make sure you visit Cairo Museum, utterly amazing.

Yes its safe...

I dont know the resorts themselves, but u can go to resorts on the beach in cities such as Sharm, Hurghada, Dahab. (Im sure u can find the resorts in those cities online on google or something)

Egypt is very safe for tourists and for people to live.  There is Hurghada which is on the red sea and very touristy.  Sharm el sheikh which is also on the red sea but south of the Sinai peninsula and is just for tourists the Egyptians living there are working there.  Dahab which is near to Sharm but quite.  

I would recommend Sharm it has Naama bay which has very good restaurants it's very beautiful with nice beaches and has the most excursions available than the other places.  I know many people who have been to Sharm and return again as they fall in love with the place.  All the above place are suitable for a family, couple of single trip holiday.

I went there and fell in love with that country. I think you have to go if you like mystic places and history. Beaches are really nice also. I did scuba diving and the view was just fantastic! And no, nothing to be scared. It's really safe and the people are very friendly! I will go there again, soon. It's a magical place!

i am an american living here in egypt andi can tell you (knockong on wood) egyot is by far safer than the US or UK. very few crime happens here....

if you want beach,you will want hurghada or sharm el sheihk. both are very nice....alexandria is lovely, but dont expect to be able to lay out on the beach or walk around in shorts, its not very touristy even though it is lovely.

wheni go t sharm i stay at cleopatra resort...its cheap (35 USD) a night non season and very nice.....

flights from sharm to cairo (to see the pyramids) are maybe 50 USD round trip.....

its a great place and i highly recommend it...
