I don't know why but for some reason i just don't have any desire to eat meat anymore.. like it doesn't look satisfying or anything really.

so i was thinking, maybe ill start being a vegetarian? because whats the point of eating meat when all it does is makes fat on my body and i dont even enjoy it.

what do you guys think? im 14 so im still growing and im kind of worried it might mess up my body while its growing if i stop eating meat? or wont it?

thanks!

  1. being vegetarian at your age is perfectly healthy.

i seriously reccomend you order Vegan Outreach's 'Guide To Cruelty Free Eating'. it is the best one i've ever read, and it has everything you need to know about going veg. it's not just an in-your-face 'go veg because meat is murder' kinda thing, like most PETA books, but one educating you on the animal cruelty part is Vegan Outreach's 'Why Vegan' starter guide.

    good job, stick with it

  2. Being vegetarian will not have any negative effect on your development. Just like any other diet, you need to find a balance to be healthy.

Losing weight is not a good reason  to become vegetarian. You lose weight by eating less calories than you consume whether you eat meat or not.

If you want to know why most people become vegetarian, you could watch Earthlings to get a thorough idea.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, pea, lentils, nut, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that your body needs except B12.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a lower B12 status than recommended.

It should help you to know that if done properly there should be absolutely no disadvantages to being vegetarian.

  3. If you do go vegetarian that is great the main thing to remember is taking care of your health.  Make sure you are taking Vitamins and eating correctly.  I should have no effect on the way your body may grow and still be growing.  In fact you may find that you fill better.  But the main thing is to be aware of your health and staying strong for you.

Have a great day and think smart you will do great.

  4. I started to be a vegetarian at 13. It won't mess up your body. You will have to do research to make sure you get enough protein and such.

As a vegetarian you can still eat cheese, and some veggies eat fish. There are so many things that you can eat as a vegitarian. You can still enjoy meatless food and be healthy.

I am so glad that you made this choice, and although it might seem a bit hard to you at first don't get discouraged, just try your best to be a veggie. Others might try to discourage you from being a vegetarian but don't listen to them.

This is a great path to start on and you are not too young, my 3 year old is a vegetarian.

I am vegan, I eat no meat, or dairy and I am healthier than I have ever been I eat a lot of veggies, a little bit of fruits, whole grains...

Do research on line about becomming a vegetarian, you'll get the hang of it.

    Good Luck

  5. GOOD.

  6. just make sure you get enough b12 and protein. You will be fine.

    Good Luck.

  7. Yes, your body needs a well rounded diet and at 14 not eating meat and giving your body what it needs will be hard to achieve as a vegetarian. Really there is a lot of meal planning involved in order to be a healthy vegetarian. Humans are omnivores.

You can always eat more chicken which can take on any flavor you cook it with to override the meaty taste.

You can even get readily pre-made marinades at the store the longer you marinade it (like overnight) the more it will just taste like the marinade.

BBQ sauce if you like the flavor is a quick and easy overnight soak as is fresh lime juice and cilantro or even Italian salad dressing.

Some of the fattest people I have known were strict vegetarians.

  8. It won't mess up your body. Meat is bad for you. It causes heart disease, cholesterol, etc. You will be healthier if you go vegetarian and your body will probably develop in a healthier way. I've been vegetarian since I was nine and my body isn't messed up at all. Just watch out for soy products...they contain estrogen, and you shouldn't intake too much. Good luck!

  9. no it wont mess up your body. vegetarianism can be extremely healthy if you eat the right foods.

being a vegetarian  would actually be better for you then eating meat.

you could do some more research on it if you want. look here
