  1. I use it.. i live in CA.....they send you the dvds and they send you everything you need....... i like it because its very convenient...... the teachers often mention aobut people in other countries watching the dvds...... they are very good at including the "students watching"

  2. You can use abeka anywhere.  I use it for my 7 yo son.  It's a great program.

  3. I was homeschooled and used abeka, and I live in Texas. I don't think it matters. And abeka is very good curriculum, nice choice! :)

  4. A Beka is simply a company that sells stuff, based out of a private school. Anybody can use it. I know Canadians who use it.

  5. I was a homeschool student, and we used abeka for a quite while when we were homeschooling!! And we live in Michigan, so I'm pretty sure that you can live anywhere and still be a part of the program!

  6. They have two programs, accredited (you must turn in work to them and get graded) and non-accredited.

The accredited one issues a diploma under Florida laws and rules that is accredited by 3 organizations.  Probably the most accredited program around.

The accredited program costs more and you have to do the work in a timely fashion.

Since they are accredited internationally it doesn't most where you live.

  7. I personally haven't heart of abeka before.

but another good school you could try is connectionsacademy.com

I'm in my third year, and i like it a lot better than public school.

  8. A Beka can be used anywhere in the world; my cousin in WI graduated through A Beka, and I have friends who live overseas who use it.  As far as the textbook/workbook currcula go, it's one of the strongest.

  9. Homeschooling is legal in all 50 states. Check out http://www.hslda.org for info on your states HS laws.

You can use Abeka if you wish. I think the private school where my husband went (The King's Academy in W.Palm Beach) used Abeka. It might have been Alpha & Omega.

If you do go with it, don't feel like you have to stick with Abeka if it's not really working for your child. There are hundreds of other programs or you could make up your own.

We use whatever works. Right now that's a good bit of play and a little bit of book work(preK-K)from workbooks we got at Wal-Mart. We're also very child led in our studies. I had a lesson plan written out for this year, but the kids seem to learn so much more when it's something they want to study.

  10. I used abeka and my mom is using it on my younger sibs. i LOVED it its a amazing GREAT system and i dont live in FL. We used the videos and all that great stuff. My sisters/brothers love the programs that come with it.

  11. I loved abeka when I was learning how to read. I loved reading, and my brother hated it, (who took a course through the local p.s.) When they get to middle school, I suggest finding other options, though.
