I am riding a quarter horse right now and am thinking about lessons. I have ridden for ten years but has never takin a real lesson. I have grown up around horses and have trained a couple. I mainly ride western, but enjoy english. If I take lessons would I be better doing western pleasure or could I do well in hunter jumper?

  1. GOOD LUCK

im takin lessons rite now. and its not the easiest thing ..

buts its fun once u figure out what ur doing. and make sure u dont get lessons from some one thats gonna charge to much. call around before u hire someone right off the bat.

  2. just ride him like you stole him

  3. I would tell you your state's local behind the pines!

  4. western pleasure!! it's the best

  5. Good for you for deciding to take a stand in which style you are choosing to ride!

Since you are most comfortable with Western, I would suggest taking Western lessons above English, since English is much different. Many places offer sets of lessons, so you can start out with Western, get the raw basics, then move to basic English!

I understand your tie between the two! I rarely ride Western, except for occasional trail rides. But, I love the proper feeling and expertise of English horsemanship!

    Good luck with lessons!
