If I do, I would need to relocate to the other side of the country. Do they have housing or are you just on your own once you're there?

Any idea how much they start off at for pay?

  1. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unless they specify that relocation expenses will be paid when you apply (and they usually don't) you're out of luck.

Border Patrol officers start at GS-5 on the Federal employee general schedule pay scale.  Here in Detroit, that translates into $32,181.00 a year.  That's about $1,235.00 (before taxes) every 2 weeks.  Bear in mind Detroit has a locality payment of 22.53%, which is the sixth highest in the nation.  The only places that are higher are Houston, San Francisco, New York/Newark, Los Angeles, and Chicago.  Anyplace else and you'll be making less.

  2. Contact U.S. Department of Homeland Security

    CBP Office

You will need to speak with Robert Hosenfeld at 202-863-6100  He will assist you with relocation benefits and housing.

  3. Go to this website............. www.usborderpatrol.gov
