I want a fresh start but I want to do it in another country. Canada seems like a nice place. I don't know much about Canada though, can you help?

  1. Here is a link that will give you lots of info on Canada.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada

Be prepared for about a two year wait time for approval by Immigration Canada.  There are hundreds of thousands of others waiting to be approved.

    Good luck.

  2. This all depends on two things: first, where do you currently live and what you're accustomed to and; secondly, where do you want to live in Canada?

Other comments all make sense, yes Canada is an expensive place to live tax wise.  Winters can be harsh and summers now more so than years before.

The country itself is gorgeous, the people very friendly that are outside of the big cities.  I lived in Toronto for 28 years until I moved.  It's beautiful in the summer, which is why I only go back to visit in the summer for a month or so.

I'm not sure I would consider returning to live there.  Saving money there was always difficult - bills and taxes.

  3. Canada is a nice country, but be warned:  Canadians pay a heck of a lot more in taxes than we do here in the U.S.  So I would advise you not to go to Canada without a plan and without having a job lined up.  Make sure you'll be able to find work first, and also make sure that you'll earn enough to afford living on the Canadian economy.  They also pay a lot more for gasoline and most consumer goods too...

  4. in my opinion Canada is a wonderful place to live. There is such a diverse crowd of people. Some people from our neighboor country, others from around the world. I live in Toronto at the moment. Filled with diversity, job opportunity and a great time. There is always something to do and see, always somebody to meet. The outdoors are a short drive away...I love it here. Like stated above,I would. Recomend lining up a job and living arangements. The taxes may be high, but it pays off, free health care, which has personally payed off in a personal emergency. Canada is agreat choice for many. Good luck!      Andrea

  5. In ref to earlier comments, the article in the latest Maclean's magazine suggested that there isn't any real difference in tax rates once you balance up medical tax/insurance.

I would suggest to you that you should not even consider a country until you have done a LOT of research about it.
