I'm a single mom so daycare, work, rent, any info or anything I need to know before moving there would be great.

  1. Kelowna is pretty nice.  It has a good arts scene and now a university and also an airport.

But... the city itself is laid out with one main extremely busy street and strip malls for as far as the eye can see.  It is not very appealing in that way.  Also I think it's hard not to have a car because the city is quite big.

The beach area at the south end of town has more character though, with a movie theatre showing rarer movies and ice cream shops and boutiques.

It's true though, real estate is expensive!!! Rentals are hard to find.

I don't know if you already have a job or what sort of field you want to work in.  There would be lots of jobs in hospitality, but less jobs in other more qualified areas.

Have you considered a different Okanagan city?  Penticton or Vernon? They are both cheaper to live in and you can still get a job in hospitality or other clerical works in these calmer smaller places.

There are 4 solid seasons though.  Skiing is available as is beaching in the summers and hiking - but these are all available in Penticton or Vernon as well.

  2. Housing is expensive, Rentals are almost non Existant, lots of work available but not necessarily high paying, It is a beautiful place, with 4 definite seasons, nice beaches.
