  1. AT&T UVerse (advance tv) does come with captioning and HDMI hook up. I have it on my HDTV as well and love it!! I don't know how I ever lived with out it!!

  2. First, be aware that AT&T calls two different services "Advanced TV".

In some areas AT&T has a fiber/copper IP TV based service called AT&T UVerse.

I have AT&T UVerse and yes it does have an HDMI port and yes you can see captioning on it.

In areas where UVerse is not deployed, AT&T combines Dish sattelite TV and a special reciver as its Advanced TV option.  This reciever also supports HDMI (though I can not personally say it supports captioning over HDMI).  The special "homezone" receiver allows for medium quality "movies" to be downloaded over an associated AT&T DSL connection  in addition to typcial sattelite tv services.

AT&T - Dish homezone service is available everywhere DSL is available.  AT&T UVerse is only available in certain cities, and then only in certain areas.  You can check availablility at uverse.att.com. In my opinion AT&T UVerse is the better service where it is available. (No rain issues, good picture, "real" video on demand rather than downloads, etc.) Be sure you know what you are getting when you order.
