Question:

I'm thinking of applying for a legal receptionist/clerk job for a law firm. ?

However, the job description kind of leans toward the female gender. By that I mean it might not be common for men to take a position such as this. Does anyone know of or has anyone heard of men doing this line of work (legal receptionist/clerk)? I hope I'm not offending anyone with the above sentences as I'm not trying to offend anyone. Thanks.

  1. yes i have seen several men working in the office as clerks and receptionist and it is not just in the legal field!!!!

  2. You can apply, but they probably won't hire you.  The field of Law is very sexist - they want females to answer the phone as the receptionist.

Warning:  Stay away from the field of Law!!!  This is NOT a good field to invest in right now!!!  Reasons:  very bad economy, there are simply too many attorneys for today's economy, today many people (mistakenly) ththink they can do their own legal work thanks to the WWWeb, there are WAY TOO MANY law schools churning out WAY TOO MANY graduates (and this includes for legal support professionals).  Even if you would make it through law school, you will discover you can't find a job.

Even if you do get a job in the field of Law, you will discover the law office atmosphere is:  very competitive and political, administrators generally do not care about the employees' best interests - only about how to make more money for the partners, they will work you to death, you will have no job security.

Suggestion:  Go into the field of Healthcare <<< LOTS of jobs there!!!  The field of Healthcare is HOT right now!!!  And the demand for male nurses is HUGE!!!

    Good luck.
