Such as, what would I have to study in university, and for how long?

Is there any specific degrees (other than medicine, the obvious) to have you specialize in haematology?

Also,. what would YOU say to be the best Canadian university to study medicine? Best university in general?

Thanks a lot!

  1. More a comment than an answer.  It makes sense to say that you're interested in medicine, but try to keep an open mind as to which areas you find most attractive.  You certainly don't need to commit to one particular speciality at this stage.

  2. -4 years of undergraduate.

    -4 years of medical school.

-3 years of internal medicine residency.

-2 years of hem fellowship ( they usually have a hem/oncology combined fellowship for 3 years, this is what i am planning on doing)

so 13-14 years in total before you making any real money.

Undergraduate major is not important as long as you fulfill med school's required classes which are the following:

-1 year of General Biology with lab.

-1 year of General Chemistry with lab.

-1 year of Organic Chemistry with lab.

-1 year of Physics and lab with lab.

-1 year of Calculus is optional but encouraged to.

By the time you finish all of those classes you will be ready to take the MCAT and hopefully will kick its ***.

For medical school admission you will need the following:

    - A decent GPA, above 3.7 is preferable.

    - A decent MCAT score, above 33 ( in my opinion) 35 for more competitive schools.

    - A set of extra curricular activities, community service and most important, medical related activities.

In term of medical schools, all of them are pretty competitive and competent in training doctors; so you should be grateful if any of them willing to take u.
