  1. Seija is right!

Not to mention the cost for repairs is like buying a new vacuum cleaner comparing cost!

It's like having a cadillac when a cavalier does the same thing.

Too heavy indeed. Too much for the buck - payments could even last a loooooong time paying for it......not much resale value.

  2. Kirbys are expensive, and they are very heavy and awkward to use. Some people love them, but they make my arms hurt from lugging them, even the ones that have the power drive. I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and I can highly recommend it. Consumer Reports rated it a Best Buy over Dyson. It's much easier to use than a Kirby, and I think it does a better job. In fact, I just used it to vacuum a carpet where the lady of the house had a Kirby, and she couldn't believe how much more I got out of her carpet with my vacuum than hers (I clean houses). Hope this helps. Good luck!

  3. Shop around more for a vacuum. I had an older model that caused me some heartburn. The biggest fault was with debris tearing into the part that turned the brush and belt(impeller) Before you make a purchase shop around. I'd ask to see if they've made improvements. I didn't know about an impeller or what made the belt turn the brush. I learned about these things the hard way-- when I vacuumed dust bunnies, marbles and a penny from the furnace into the hose down into the impeller. I had no idea that the bunnies hidden treasure would cause the damage to the vacuum like it did. Look to see if they've improved the design on a newer model to protect the belt and impeller. Also consider a hard cover for dust collection vs a bag. Windsor makes very nice vacs, but just as pricey. Shop around more...I've purchased a quiet, light weight Windsor vac that gaurantees the belt for a lifetime, disposable bags--no muss no fuss...good luck.the Dyson(sp) looks pretty good...
