I want to do hockey for a winter sport this year in school. Although our school doesn't have it, I would have to go to another school after school to do it. I am a girl, and I'm 14.

Is it worth it? Is it hard? Any tips ?

  1. dont start now youre too old and youll ruin it for all the other people who have been playing their whole lives

  2. well if u can skate then its easy but if its ur first time then thet might be a little hard. i play myself, but anyway, if u think ur good enough then go for it.....

    hope i helped

  3. For many beginners, learning how to skate can be less than easy.  You have to be a fast skater who can move on skates to the point that it becomes second nature (by that, meaning you're not thinking about skating, but about the actual sport- think about how football/basketball and baseball players don't think about running- they do it naturally).

Suffice to say, being a good skater is very important.  Even though girls hockey is non-checking, contact does occur.  Learning how to fall can prevent injuries.

With all this being said...it's a great game; the greatest game by my book.

  4. Check to see if  your community has any hockey teams that aren't affiliated with any schools.

That's your best bet, if not, you could go to the other school to do it, if you want it bad enough, you'll find a way.

As far as whether it's worth it, depends on your passion to play.

    Good Luck!!
