Oh and make sure tey have a nice piggy house made out of wood and they have to have timothy hay every day! good luck!!!!

  3. Clean cage on a regular basis and don't make the mistake my mom did, we first had them in the kitchen and each day they would get some sort of fresh veggies or fruit, so everytime my mom opened the fridge they would start screaming.

  4. choosing a guineapig is personal choice. Long hair, short, colour.

If your getting more then one make sure you get either male or female don't get one of each cause they breed better than rabbits.

i clean, water and feed mine once a day. if you get one i think they bond better to you. bring it out everyday and they will be quiet as anything. hope this helps.

    Good luck

ps if you want a bit of fun ring your local council and you can show them. mine was Queensland Cavy Council and met first sunday of every month

  5. First of all ;

One of their daily requirements is fresh food and rabbit/guinea pig pellets.

You must buy them some straw/hay (for their hutch)

You must clean their hutch once/twice a week

You don't have to but its better for them to have a little enclosure to run aorund (mine love it)

They need to be held once/twice a day

Also - Pet shop guinea pigs can be expensive, your better off getting them for free or very cheap in the paper, or from breeders.

    Good luck !

  6. Slowly feed them treats from your hands and pat them. Don't be mean to them and they'll love you back.

Just take a good look at them and pick a pair that you like. Guinea pigs usually goes best in pairs. Besides, if your guinea pig is lonely, it may become depressed and this will shorten their lifespan. Remember to choose those that are active and not lying around, looking weak. If you see any guinea pigs that have diarrhea or some infectious disease, it's best to go to another petshop. All the guinea pigs in that cage probably were infected already.

    Good Luck!

  7. Although it doesn’t seem like it, owning guinea pigs is a pretty big commitment.

You need to have room for a big cage and it should be cleaned at least once a week as they go to the toilet a LOT.

They need fresh water, pellets and hay every day.

A nice supply of fruit and veggies everyday is always good too.

As for picking the right ones, you should pick the ones that appeal to you.

Avoid any piggies that look lethargic or sick.

It is best to keep them in pairs as they can get lonely and depressed.

If you keep them outside it is a good idea to bring them inside and let them run around on an old towel for a while everyday.

And pick them up and cuddle them lots.

They will be scared and squeal for the first month or maybe more depending on the guinea pigs personality, but after that they should get to know you and your voice.

    Hope this has helped.

  8. you should

    -clean cage regurly

    -always have fresh water available

-well i feed mine twice a day but you can feed them once a day

i chose mine because he was the little cute one who was being picked on by the others lol when you see one you like there isn't a major reason to ask questions.

  9. These websites have great care info :

Don't buy from a pet store. They get them from breeding mills and backyard breeders. They are often sick, missexed and/or pregnant.

Adopt and save a life (or two): http://www.petfinder.com/

  10. My advice, don't get them.Theyre a pain in the ***. I used to have em and al they do is eat , p**p heaps and make annoying noises. But if u must get em theyre pretty easy to take care of. You gotta clean the cage out like every week n let them play out on open area with grass  like two times a week. And always change their water. Good luck theyre cute n cuddly but annoying :)
