I'm thinking of getting something pierced, will it hurt?

i was hoping to get either my lip or tongue pierced but i would like to know from people who have them if it hurts as much as it sounds like it does

i have heard that it really hurts. i wouldn't risk an infection either.

They all hurt. It just depends on the person who's taking care of the piercing that will lessen the pain. So if you really are looking into it, get someone who really knows their stuff, and not a newbie.

i have heaps of friends that have their togues and lips peirced, they said that it wasnt that bad, and you would get over it

my best friend got his tounge pierced, and he said the piercing didn't hurt because there are no nerve endings in your tounge, but it hurt AFTER cuz it swelled and stuff.  he ended up taking it out because his favorite foods didnt taste as good with it in.

Well a lip and tongue piercing do hurt, but so do belly button and ear piercings. The pain is different for everybody. I know people who cried when they pierced their lip and I know people who swear it didn't hurt at all. It really depends how much pain you can take, but it should only hurt for the few minutes it takes to pierce it, after that it shouldn't hurt as much.

My cousin got his tounge pierced and his tounge swelled up super bad. He couldn't eat or anything. I wouldn't. Maybe lip. Personally, I don't like it. But, it's your choice. : )

Pain factor really depends on you. Your personal pain threshold, and you personal expectations on how much it will hurt all will play a part in how much it will hurt you. My tongue hurt like all get out, but my friend breezed through it like it was nothing(compared to me).

If you think it is really going to hurt a lot, chances are it will hurt you more than someone who doesn't think that way.
