  1. Trying looking at www.wwoof.co.nz willing workers on organic farms.  You can join up and this is an awesome way to travel the country and work as you go.  This programme sets you up with jobs on organic farms working for food and accommodation.  You can stay in one place for as little or as long as you like.  Good way to really get to know the locals too.

  2. Plenty of fruit picking around NZ - that is the #1 choice for backpackers.

... or you can do what a Backpacker did the other day, was in the country for a couple days, bought a lotto ticket and hit the jackpot.  We was planning to work, fruit picking around the country to fund his trip, needless to say, he doesn't need to do that now!  http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,232... or http://www.stuff.co.nz/4416423a10.html

Search online for 'seasonal work for backpackers' on google.co.nz and you will come up with many options:::

    Have a great trip
