I'm thinking of going to Dubai in Sep and work there if possible. But don't really know where to start.

Question

I know we need a work permit to work there but not sure how it works, like we get a job first then the company provides the visa or we get the visa first then apply for the jobs??? It'd be a great help if anybody who's been there and worked before could tell me about it. And is there any good website to look for information and jobs???

You can arrive on a visit visa and once you found a job they will set up your work visa.  Before you arrive, send out our resume and have some contacts in place.  Your going to want to get a job asap.  Depending on what type of work you do, it doesn't have to take too long.  If you know anyone here already, that can help heaps too.  There's a lot of networking going on here.  Good Luck!!

i lived there between 1988 and 2000.  u need to get the job first then the employer will apply for yr visa and labour card. if ur british then u can go there for a month without a visa which will enable u to look for a job.  there are recruitment agencies there one i can think of offhand is called Nadias otherwise look online at gulfnews.com which is the largest selling english language daily paper
