I'm thinking of joining the electricians union in Las Vegas?

I want to join the union but because of my gender I have a lot of questions before i join. like do men respect you, what do you were? Can anyone help me please

my fiance is in the electricians union and he says that there are only certain women that can do their kind of work and often the are assumed to be g*y and catch **** for this very early in their careers i say its a mans job i love when my man comes home from a long hard day and he has a tool belt and hard hat and he is all dirty but truthfully i think its a little disturbing to see women in this field sorry

My other half works in Vegas.  Most of the electricians will respect you if you're a hard worker, willing to get dirty, and try your best.  Always try to do the job whatever you are asked to do, never say no, can't do it.   But there are always butt heads to work with.  Easier for him to wear jean bibs, more pockets.  Always wear cotton, polyester will melt to your skin.  Las Vegas compared to other cities is ideal because they don't run too much metal conduit which is a lot heavier work.

Good pay, good benefits, able to travel.  Good time to join because of all the work here in Vegas.  Otherwise, you would be on a waiting list like other cities.  Good organization to join, like a big family.  Good luck to you.

Well my husband is not an electrician he is a sheet metal worker but he works beside the electricians and he always says that the girl never do the hard jobs. They mostly put together circuit boards and stuff like that. They get paid the same but i always am told different about the pay. I know a guy who just started as an apprentice and he makes like 20 an hour or so. I think they make high 30's as a journeyman. As for men respecting women by what my husband says they stare at them and sometimes make remarks. There is alot of nasty stuff written in the port o potty. But when you get that many men together in one place there is going to be those few *** wipes. Most of them are just hard working family men. As for clothes i know you wear good work boots, jeans and a tee shirt. You don't need to go buy clothes for work just slip on some jeans and a tee shirt that you are prepared to get dirty and sweat alot in cause it is hot out there.  I have had many people tell me that they always need girls. One guy told me any that applies will get hired if they can pass the test, but he also tried to hit on me so take that for what it's worth right. That's about all i know so good luck.
