I'm thinking of joining the peace corps. Should i go, and can i pick were i go?

i'm 19 and doing nothing exept going to school, so i'm planing to join the peace corps during the summer months.

  1. You should go, and they let you make a preference for an area, but - you can't do it as a summer job and your chances of getting in at 19 are small.

    92% of all PCV's have a degree. The other 8% have 10 - 50 years of experience. It is a 27 month commitmet; 3 months of training, two years of work.

    Good intentions are not enough. You need a skill that a host country has asked for.

  2. You don't get to pick where you go, you have to commit to at least one year, and you need to have an area of expertise that is actually needed in the developing world.
